Most of the restaurants that have Lounges are Walk up with an exception for Sace 220, that now requires booking.

This makes it nice for those of us that don't want a full sit down ADR, prefer to "wing it" and enjoy a drink and appetizer or dessert!!!

For reference, you do not need a reservation to sit at the bar rail. You can walk-up that.

They removed the counter seating. It's walk away only now. You might be able to order food, but you can't sit there and eat it. At least, that was true the last time I walked in. I think that was this past February.

Yes, a lot of the signature restaurants have bars you can eat at with no reservation. Flying Fish and California Grill are my favorites.

Barstools are back, but it's drinks only. No food or milkshakes. If it comes from the kitchen, they can't do it.

Oh gosh!! I guess it became too much for such a small bar to handle!! Well DH will just have to miss his PB&J milkshake this trip!

Very sad. Pre-Covid, this was our go-to lunch choice in the Studios. We used to arrive anytime after 1 pm, wait for two adjacent barstools to open up, and enjoy reasonably priced good food while watching the bartenders earn their keep. They were always plenty busy filling drink orders, but managed to provide good service for our food orders as well.

It’s not that. Drinks are more profitable than food, and someone sitting down for a drink occupies the stool for much less time than someone having lunch, allowing them to serve more guests.

I’d bet that the till is larger this way and that means profits are MUCH higher.

I wonder if Jiko's "bar" is considered a bar. Last time I ate there, I was told that I had to make reservations and ask to be seated at their bar when I checked in. That they didn't take walk-in seating. But I know that AKL has a separate bar that DOES take walk in seating.

For reference, you do not need a reservation to sit at the bar rail. You can walk-up that.
