Resorts with kitchen?

My dh really wants to have a kitchen to eat dinners at the room since the kids are wiped out by night. Are the villas the only choice? TIA! (There will be 5 of us). Or, for example, at the Polynesian, can you get a microwave for the room, I know it has a fridge....

The villas have the full kitchen and so would the cabins at Fort Wilderness. Not sure about microwaves in rooms. The studios at the villas have a microwave and small frig but depending on the age of any kids, you will be limited on rooms that will hold 5. Have heard that the cabins are nice and we always get a two bedroom villa and love them. You may want to try renting points from a DVC member which will save you a lot of money.

The Family Suites at the All Stars have kitchenettes with a small undercounter fridge and a microwave, coffee maker, and I believe a toaster.
The only full kitchens are in the DVC Villas and the Fort Wilderness Cabins.

I've heard that the Poly has a limited number of microwaves, you can request one for your room if they haven't all been taken by other guests. There are coffeemakers and small fridges in every Poly room.

The All-Star Music Family Suites have kitchenettes with a microwave, fridge and coffeemaker.

The DVC studios have kitchenettes with toasters, microwaves, fridges and coffeemakers.

The DVC 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas and the Fort Wilderness Cabins have full kitchens with full-size appliances, pots, pans, dishes, flatware, glasses, etc.

That's it as far as kitchen facilities in Disney resort rooms.

For a family of 5 I think the cabins are a great way to go (although I've not stayed in the All-star suites so that may work too). The bed and bunk beds in the bedroom sleep 4, plus a murphy bed in the living room. The kitchen is well equipped and Fort Wilderness is a great getaway after a long day in the parks. More space than a Studio, cheaper than a 1 Bedroom villa.
