Resorts in Las Vegas

tell me about your favorite resorts in Vegas and why? Also, if you paid like $1,000 for a room/night that's a bit out of my budget, just trying to get some opinions for us regular folk.

I was looking at The Signature at MGM Grand.

It's a little far off from the main part of the strip, but I LOVE the Golden Nugget! Their pool is outstanding. And I have heard you can get dirt cheap on priceline. It would be under the Las Vegas Strip-North. 4 stars I believe?

Too funny! I was coming to post almost the exact same thread.

We are considering a 4 night trip for Sept or Oct 2010. I will be traveling with my Mom who will be 75 in June. She wants to see Donny and Marie.

I would like nice accomodations, centrally located, for a reasonable price. I have been told to look at the Flamingo and Paris. Any other ideas?

I've stayed at 3 different resorts in Vegas. My favorite is the Bellagio. We booked that through Expedia and got a great rate! I have also stayed at Bally's which is across the street from the Bellagio. The location was good but the resort itself was really nothing exciting. I have stayed at the Excalibur twice. It's a really fun resort and not too expensive. It is just farther down the strip so it's a bit more walking. Anywhere in Vegas is fun though!!! Have a great time!

We loved Treasure Island, the comfiest beds ever! But it is at one end of the strip, so lots of walking

I would love to stay at MGM. I like the atmosphere and color schemes in the casino and I like visiting the lions. I also like New York, New York and would like to stay there sometime. There's a great monorail system that goes all the way down the strip so you can easily visit the other casinos. We stayed at the Hilton a couple of years ago when we saw Barry Manilow. The room was great and, even though it's at the end of the strip, we used the Monorail with no problem. I also stayed at Caesar's once with my sister but that place is so huge! It seemed like we had to walk a mile to get to the room and 2 miles to get downstairs just to get bagels. It's a beautiful place but just really huge.

We really enjoy staying at THEHotel at Mandalay Bay. Two room suites for about $10 more than a regular Mandalay Bay room. It's laid back and not as "casino-like" but it's a short walk down a hallway into the back of the Mandalay Bay casino (and all of the opportunities to take advantage of the Mandalay Bay pool, one of the nicest in Vegas IMHO).

Planet Hollywood is very cool. It has a fun atmoshpere, and it is very close to the center of the strip. The price is in the middle range. We have been to MGM, New York/New York, Wynn, and Luxor. Out of all of them I would recommend PH the most.

I have stayed at Mandalay Bay, The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, Luxor, MGM, New York New York, Monte Carlo, Paris, Bellagio, Caesars, Treasure Island, Mirage and Venetian. Whew, I think that's all of them. The only two left that I want to try but have not are the Palazzo and Wynn.

My favorite by a far far mile is the Venetian. I love staying in the Venezia Tower there. The rooms are very large, that tower is very quiet. I think this resort has an excellent variety of dining options and of course the Grand Canal shops are so fun to walk. The spa is nice here too.

My second favorite would probably be Caesars. I have only stayed in the August tower there.

Third would probably be MGM. I didn't think the rooms were all that amazing but I love the resort itself. It's a step down in pricing from Venetian/Caesars/Wynn/Bellagio but for a moderate priced resort, I think it offers plenty of variety.

Bottom of the list would be Mandalay Bay and the Hotel at Mandalay Bay. Just too far down on the strip, I do not like the casino areas or the shopping there. Fine dining options are good but also not wowed with casual dining.

All of these hotels are very reasonably priced now. We stayed at Venetian in October for $179/night. I just got an offer for free rooms there after the New Year.

The only place that I have stayed is Paris and I wouldn't recommend it. Although the location is great (mid-strip), it is overpriced for the quality of room you get. I will admit to being a little biased against it because the room next to us was broken in to and I got to hear all the details about what happened (and I heard that it wasn't an unusual occurrence there). However, I would definitely make it a point to eat at the breakfast buffet at Paris!!! Their crepes are out of this world!

If we ever make it back to Vegas, we will stay at the Bellagio. It is really beautiful and is at a great location mid-strip.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Hilton Vacation Club at the Flamingo? How is that different than the Flamingo hotel?

MGM Signature is amazing. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Service was wonderful and I enjoyed the fact that the casino was not in the hotel itself. The pools are quiet but you have access to use the MGM pools which is what I did most of the time. It is a distance to walk to the strip as you need to connect to MGM and through MGM itself.

When I go back to Vegas this is where I will stay.

We have stayed at a few of the Vegas hotels and my favourite is a lake view at the Bellagio. I adore the dancing fountains and the mid strip location is perfect for us. My other favourite is the Venetian, however when we stayed there we were upgraded to a 2 bedroomed high roller suite (really not sure why!) so I would hesitate to stay there again as there would be no way we would get that room again!! The hotel itself was amazing, but the Bellagio has the better location.

Our favorites are the Bellagio, Ceasars Palace and Paris. We have stayed at Planet Hollywood and like it too but its not as nice as the other three mentioned.

YES: Bellagio, Paris, Mandalay Bay, Caesars Palace, Mirage, Venetian, Wynn, Aria, Treasure Island, Planet Hollywood.

NO: Luxor, Bally's, Imperial Palace, Rio, Harrah's.

MAYBE: Flamingo, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Palms.

The "old" Las Vegas downtown casinos are located on Fremont Street, which is a bit of a drive from Las Vegas Blvd. These casinos include the Golden Nugget, Binions, Four Queens, & Fitzgerlds.

Mid range price and great center strip location

Harrahs (they also own Imperial Palace-cheap and not one I would stay at, Paris-not as cheap and great theme, Ceasers Palace-expensive, but world class resturants and shopping and these are also center strip) I've done Excaliber as well but it was just too far at one end for me.

If you like the "old vegas" atmosphere then I'd stay here (I did back in the late eighties but I've been pretty much staying on the strip for the last 10 years or so) the other hotels are so so, but this has the highest number of stars/diamonds/ratings in the Fremont area. I've also stayed at Fitzgeralds, and Four Queens and El Cortez but all back in the eighties/nineties

Off Strip

I have been wanting to stay at the Orleans which has a great Locals rep but, I haven't stayed anywhere other than strip/downtown so I can't really give an opinon.


Good news is that they have a great bus service and bizillion taxis so anywhere you stay is easy to transport to and from.

Cheapovegas is actually my favorite site, but I have just that warped of a sense of humor. However they reviews are practical and the map links they have are superior.

I stayed at The Signature in Auguts for my wedding, and it was great. The rooms are really nice and feel very luxurious. The bathroom was gigantic, with a jacuzzi tub and separate glass shower. We had a balcony looking out over the Strip which was nice too (we actually got married on the balcony).

It is a little "off the beaten path," but you have to do a ton of walking no matter where you stay in Vegas. They do have the moving walkways to make the walk over to the main MGM a little easier. We ended up using the monorail a lot to get to the far end of the Strip.

I would check Fatwallet.com and Travelzoo.com for deals. We ended up getting a $100 drink credit for our stay, and the rate was less than $150 per night

If you aren't looking for fancy, Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon is mid-strip and is a great value. Check TripAdvisor for reviews.

We stayed at Bally's in September for only $50 a night. It was a great mid-strip location and I would certainly stay there again.

I have stayed downtown at Fitzgerald's and Four Queens several times. My parents are elderly and they prefer it = less walking.

I just came home from Vegas and stayed at New York New York for the first time. I loved it!! comfortable room, quiet, loved the bars and restaurants. I've also stayed at Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio. All of which I would recommend. Do not stay at Stratosphere or Monte Carlo.
