Resorts getting rid of comforters

We were at BWV over Christmas and also had NO blankets in the closet for the sofa bed. So called Mousekeeping and at first they balked and said that was the new normal. But when I pressed and said my children were freezing with only sheets they soon brought up 5 blankets! Actually that ended up being the right number - they each used 2 to curl up in and DH and I used the other one on our bed. I found I needed an blanket along with the triple sheeting to stay warm.

There's one important point to consider. The less bed coverings available within Central Florida means less air conditioning usage. Who cranks the AC when there's few heavy blankets?

As they say: "Save Big Money."

Even though we are acclimated to cool weather here in Central Indiana, it still gets cool enough in Central Florida to need a blanket on the bed. If it is 40 or so outside, it will probably get cold enough inside that many people will need to turn on the heat to be comfortable inside. It is less expensive to have a blanket on the bed to crank up the heat.

...still thinking WDW's drawing much more "juice" for AC than heating. In the end, they're saving money on this one.

Did you look in the storage spaces inside the sleeper sofa when you opened it up? That's where I found the blanket in October. Pillows, too.

DH and I were at BLT in Dec the extra pillows and blanket were in the bedroom closet.;)

Yes, looked there and all closets... Pillows were there, but no blankets to be found.

Our room had the new bedding on our most recent trip to BCV. I sleep under a comforter all year round at home, and I didn't think I would be warm enough without one, but the blanket sandwiched between the sheets was quite warm and comfortable, and I think it is a good change because it's cleaner. The comforters were prettier, but I'll trade that for the sake of having everything clean.

Yeah, this was the case. We both searched, no blanket. Turned heat up a little. Turned out okay, but would like a light blanket.

I was at OKW a couple weeks ago and I liked the triple sheeting. I am usually too hot though, so I can see how someone who is usually cold would need an extra blanket.

The sheets were not plain, they were white with Hidden Mickeys that were also white but a different texture. I thought they were quite elegant.

We did have all necessary bedding for the pullouts in the closet.

Ugh...the hits keep on coming. Our three visits a year have turned into once every 12-14 months. I guess, this is working out for somebody.

One interesting thing to note about calling Mousekeeping and they'll "just bring it right up to you".... on the DVC member site yesterday, I noticed under the BCV booking window it says... "Sleeps 4 – 5th guest can be accommodated, but please note that NO ADDITIONAL BEDDING, LINENS OR TOWELS WILL BE PROVIDED."

I don't remember it ever saying that before. ?? Anybody else? They may be getting a lot of requests for extra blankets/sheets now due to this.

Did it always say that and I just never saw it before?

It has always said that on all DVC "sleeps 4" room categories.

We had the triple sheeting at SSR last night and I was freezing. We had to crank the heat way up- I live in Florida and don't crank my AC but sleep under a heavy comforter all year- the thin little blanket didn't cut it and we couldn't find any other blankets in the room. I will call for extra blankets as soon as I arrive at the room from now on when it is cold out.

Now, we are reduced to begging for blankets? Sorry, it's just the totality of the changes, that is a bit unsettling.

I know, right? It's ridiculous.

All the great decor, in the trash can in favor of white dishes, white towels, and now this triple sheeting garbage.

I wonder if things are changing frequently regarding bedding. In Dec. at BWV we had triple sheeting with a blanket between the sheets in the master and the same on the sofa bed in the living room. We also had an extra blanket and sheets in the entryway closet.

Have a Question? We were at Aulani when they first opened. Loved it. They had Hawai'n Quilts on the beds, they where beautiful, with hidden Mickey's. I wanted to buy one but they were not selling them at that time. I still would like to purchase one. Have they removed these quilts from Aulani?

I am in a studio now at BWV, and on the queen bed, I have triple sheeting with a blanket, the sofa bed made up with sheets and a blanket, and another blanket in the closet.
