We are in the process of planning a trip with two children - ages 3 and 6 in May of 2003. We are trying to get feedback on the best deals relative to resorts. We are leaning toward the moderate resorts, for fear the Value hotels are kind of far from the sights, and may be a bit noisier / more crowded.

Does anyone have preferences relative to the moderate hotels??:Pinkbounc

I think once you've been there you will realize that most resorts are far from the sights :)

The AllStars are next to CSR which is a moderate, and BB is just around the corner from there.I believe the closest resorts to MK are the Contemporary & the Poly,if by "the sights" you mean MK.I think the ALLStars are the closest resort(other than the AKL)to AK.This is just from memory and I could be wrong, but any of the guide books have maps of the resorts in relationship to the parks to give you an accurate idea of placement.

As for noise,we've stayed at the AllStars twice and never had any problem with noise or crowds, either.

CSR has a great pool for kids (and adults:D ). Especially in May you may find a lot of conventions (which could be good - business people aren't at the pool during the afternoon.) Drawbacks for CSR is that it is very spread out and some people find the counter service restaurant to be pricey for the type of food.
CB gets nice reviews too. If you research, you can find out which rooms to request to be close to the pool and food court, as this resort is also quite spread out.
POR/POFQ is smaller, so not quite so spread out. The big plus here is that it is a boat ride to DD. If your kids like DQ or the DD area, that is a nice perk. They are making the McDonald's in DD bigger, so that could be a quick, cheap meal from PO.
All of the moderates are closer to the resorts than the values, which definitely saves you time over the course of a week.
All of the moderates look quite nice, so I'm sure you'll enjoy any of them. I like the themeing to these resorts MUCH better than the values. Happy Planning!:smooth:

I've stayed at the Poly in 1999 and allstar movies in 2000 and music in 2001. I'm not a theme park commando or anything but for my husband and me we are not in our room enough to stay in a deluxe again. We still spend the same amount of money and do a lot of tours and special stuff. The all stars aren't noisy on the upper floors. I don't have kiddies and I loved the allstars. maybe you should look into the allstars. Also I did a walkthrough of POR and it is beautiful! Look into staying there too!!!:bounce:
