Resort Mugs...Kinda Pointless?

The refillable mugs at resorts have always seemed a bit useless as the can only be used in the resorts. Anyone care to defend them as a good perk?

I agree with PP. instead of buying a drink at the resort you can just refill your mug. We have always gotten the mugs. You can get coffee and tea in the morning and then soda the rest of the day. We would usually go in the morning before the parks and then after the parks we'd go fill them again at least once.

Every morning.(usually 6-7)
We take midday breaks, and sometime fill them twice(6-14 times)
After park closing if not too late(4-5 times)
We take a day off midweek to recharge. If we eat at the food court, we fill upon entry and fill again when leaving.

We're getting at minimum 20 fills per trip. It's a good deal to me.

Yeah I can suck down $17 worth of beverages at my own resort in 8 days easily plus it doubles as a souvenir.

Incidentally, I was too lazy to take it back to my room one day and it was a great to go cup for my tequila when I was leaving epcot.

I haven't found a reason to buy them either anymore. But I don't hang out at the resort often. The last resort I stayed at was coronado so they were pretty inconvenient to walk from the ranchos to the qs.

Also I think they don't hold enough to be useful at home. I drink a lot of water at one time I guess lol...

Makes sense if you are
1. Spending some time at the resorts
2. Close to the pool bar or QS location
3. Staying for a long period of time

I have used the mug for coffee. That's the only drink we buy at Disney anyway (apart from booze for me LOL). Caffeinated in the morning, decaf at night...long enough stay, the coffee makes up for it!

We also think it depends on which resort you are at, and how close to the food court you are. We use them a lot at POFQ, POP, and CR, not so much at FW cabins, All Stars, and PO. AKL was better than I thought, but still a little out of the way. Still find them very convenient if I get them on the dining plan. The Hot Chocolate is great!

If you are a daily coffee drinker I find purchasing the mugs to be worth it, especially at values -- All-Stars, Pop, and AoA Little Mermaid -- where there are no in-room coffee makers. And then I also make sure to get soda at other parts of the day.

It doesn't really make sense if you aren't at your resort much. We got them as part of the DDP last year, we only used them on day 1 when we picked them up. We were always in a hurry to get to the parks, and we never used the QS at our resort.

Sorry just wanted to jump on here. Trying to figure out if these will be worth it for us. How much do coffee and fountain beverages cost in the value resorts?

I was wondering this myself .. I was thinking of just getting one .. but split it with my wife .. sometimes coffee for her (in morning/evening) .. sometimes soda for myself.

But they are costly unless you drink a TON of beverages throughout the day and you don't value the cup itself as a souvenir ...
Just seems like a waste unless you are on a long trip with a few non-park days ... especially when most people probably take 2/3rds of their meals at the parks.
