I heard that people recommend visiting some of the nicer resorts to resort hop... um, what do you do exactly? Is it easy to resort hop using Disney transporation.. .we are staying at caribbean beach which seems so far from other resorts...

When I go resort hopping, I usually browse around the gift shops, check out the pool area and grounds, and grab a bite to eat somewhere. I usually go to the Epcot area resorts and the monorail resorts. If I'm going to the Epcot resorts, I usually plan it for a day I'm at Epcot. Maybe take a break from the parks, go to Beaches and Cream for lunch, and just browse around the shops. Same thing with the monorail resorts--I plan it for a Magic Kingdom day and have diner at the Kona Cafe. To get to the AKL or the WL, I just take a bus from my resort to a park, and then take a bus to the other resort.

On our next trip, DW and myself plan to spend one day visiting all of the resorts just to see them in person. Our 2 DS are going to Disney Quest that day, and DW and I have no interest in that, so resort hopping is what we came up with. Plan on just seeing each resorts lobby, pool area, resturants, and general theming. Yes I realize we will not be able to hop between some resorts, must go to a park, Downtown Disney, or TTC, to change transportation, but we plan to make a leisurely day of it, a change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

We just returned from Port Orleans Riverside. My son stayed at the Contemporary Resort. He and his girlfriend spent more time with us at POR than they did at their own resort. Why? They LOVED the beauty of POR. They said the pools were much nicer, the grounds were beautiful and the food choices were less $$.

As for getting around back & forth between resorts, they took the buses using Downtown Disney as the drop off point. Then they took the boat to POR. :)

I agree with another poster that if you want to visit or eat at a Disney resort it's a lot easier if you go from the closest theme park. Since there are no direct Disney buses going from resort to resort you can waste a lot of time trying to do this without a theme park planned for that day. When at the MK it is easy to get to the CR, Poly, GF, WL and FW. From Epcot and the Studios it's easy to get to the Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk, and Beach/Yacht clubs.
