Hi Everyone!! My husband and I have decided to do our first trip to the WDW kid free :cool1: We are planning to go this fall as we have airline credits that we need to use before winter. In our previous trip we have stayed at the Poly, OKW, & All-Star Sports. This is going to be a much more relaxed trip for us. Sleeping in, doing a park a day at a slower pace, enjoying some TS dinners, staying out late and going to MNSSHP one night.

Where to stay is where we are having trouble. He refuses to stay at a value since we will be enjoying the room more this trip. He is interested in some MODs but really wants deluxe for the balcony. He prefers the monorail resorts but is ok with any of the others. My question is this. Are there any deluxe resorts or views that do not have a balcony? If I remember right the poly has some rooms without a balcony correct? Honestly I would rather not pay premium prices and not get the balcony. I would just go mod and save some cash.

Thanks!!

The beach club has Juliet balconies which are stand up balconies. You could always make it your first request on your reservation. Must have a balcony please- thank you

I think the Boardwalk has some rooms without balconies.

The Wilderness Lodge has some rooms with patios instead, and I think the Contemporary resort does too.

Look into buying someone's DVC points. You might be able to get a better room than what you would get rack rate. Some people are selling points cheap but I don't know about that far out.

If your husband wants a balcony, you probably shouldn't do a moderate. They are all motel style where your room window looks out onto the walkways to access the rooms. It can be kind of awkward to leave your curtains open as people walk right in front of your windows so spending time in the room is less relaxing and nice.

As far as the deluxes go, I think that Yacht Club, Grand Floridian and Animal Kingdom Lodge all guarantee balconies on the upper floors and a patio on the first. I don't know about Boardwalk Inn or Wilderness Lodge.

For the rest:

Contemporary: All tower rooms have balconies while none of the garden wing rooms do, so book a room in the tower for a balcony.

Beach Club: Most, but not all the rooms have balconies so its only on request.

Polynesian: Three of the longhouses have lanais on the first floor and balconies on the other two (Tokelau, Rapa Nui, and Tahiti). The rest have lanais on the first floor and balconies only on the third floors. Once again balconies are upon request.

So at least three deluxes guarantee a balcony and a fourth guarantees it if you book the right room category. As far as the others go, I'm pretty sure that most of the rooms at each of them have balconies or patios, so if you make having a balcony your only request and you don't go at a time the resorts are crazy full, you will probably get one. Remember most people who go to Disney aren't as obsessive as the people on DISboards and don't even know to request a balcony. The worst thing that could happen would be that you might have to wait a bit longer for your room to be available at check-in so that a room with a balcony opens up.

If it's your first time going without kids and are going in the fall I would seriously consider one of the Epcot area deluxes due to the Food & Wine Festival. Even if you're not normally a huge fan of Epcot, I think being close to the Festival and all the regular dining choices there plus just walking around the Boardwalk area would be relaxing.

I second this.

As far as balconies go, most Boardwalk rooms have them, though there are a few that don't. The Beach Club would probably be the one to avoid in that area if you really want a balcony. Just make sure you request this, wherever you stay.

Thanks so much for all the helpful information. I think we will do the safe thing and book a resort with balconies. Thanks for the tip regarding the Epcot resorts. I didn't even think about food and wine going on. Will check those resorts out for sure.

Thanks Again!
