My husband and I have been several times but now we have an infant. I'm wondering about where to stay? I like the idea of being someplace convenient (like CR with the monorail) but don't like the other kid options there. On the other hand, love the idea of the petting zoo, campfire at Ft. Wilderness... Anyone have any thoughts or experiences? Addie will be one when we go- and we are planning on relaxing, no commando disney.:flower3:

You can have the best of both worlds! You can stay at CR & take the small boat over to FW to see the animals, pony ride, campfire, etc. The small boat goes CR/FW/WL.

If you can afford it, stay at the Poly! The huge thing is being able to take the monorail to MK and walk to the TTC for the direct monorail to Epcot. Folding up the stroller and dealing with both the diaper bag and baby on a bus (even if there are 2 adults) is a huge pain. 99% of the time you do not have to take the baby out of the stroller to get on the monorail. After a week of constantly folding the stroller, the ease of transportation is worth the price.

The Poly also has a zero entry pool, and if he/she is walking by then, they also have the magic fountains (the ones that spurt up from the ground) by the pool.

The rooms are also much bigger, so it makes it easier to park a stroller and have a crib in the room without cramping it too much.

One word of caution: not all rooms have balconies. Make sure that if you choose this resort you ask for it in your ressie and confirm when you check in (if this feature matters to you - we always like to put the kiddies to bed and unwind for a while on the balcony).

No matter where you stay, enjoy! There is nothing better than watching the Disney magic in a young child's eye.:lovestruc

With the Contemporary being the closest resort to the Magic Kingdom, having the Monorail and the walkway to and from the Magic Kingdom, I would say that's the best location to stay at with an infant.

We took our at the time 18 month old on his first trip to Disney and stayed at the Poly. I can't recomend it enough for an infant. The mono rail to the MK and Epcot is a huge benefit with strollers involved. Add to that our mobile and active infant hated sitting on moms lap on the bus. He wanted to explore, but on the mono rail he was strapped in and had plenty to distract him.

The Poly's pool is great for infants, you have the beach, large rooms, the sushi bar does take out if the infant has had enough for the day, dole whips, I can go on.

Poly is the place to be if you have an infant and can afford it.

I agree, the convienence of the Poly to the monorail & the TTC is great. :)

Also, I have to say that BW and BC/YC are good options too because you can walk to both Epcot & HS. :thumbsup2

I agree with PP that the strollers are a PAIN on the bus. When my kiddies were babies we stayed at CBR but we always had a car so I wouldn't deal with the bus at all. (except for MK) This past trip, we were at Poly & GF and took the monorail with the stroller and it was great. At the BW it was nice to be able to walk to 2 out of the 4 parks.

ooooh! The choices! Out of the 3 monorail resorts, I love the GF. It's lovely!

If you are not planning to go "commando" and planning on a relaxing vacation I would recommend Fort Wilderness cabins. This is even better if you have a car and are not reliant on buses.

They have more space, and are very quiet (for naps). The bedrooms are separated from the main living space which is great for some adult space after the little one goes to sleep.

We found the full kitchen to be awesome with a little one for bottles and snacking and even would enjoy a quiet breakfast (we would make our own pancakes and bacon) out on the patio. We stayed there when our youngest was 6 months and thought it was perfect. He enjoyed the boat ride to and from MK, and he and my then 3 year old loved the campfire with Chip and Dale. Not to mention the beach and playground.

The kids also enjoyed the little things like going out on the patio in the morning and looking for the bunnies.....you could see rabbits and squirrels when walking to the pool as well. It was like having two vacations in one- the hustle and bustle of the parks and then returning to the quiet of the cabin and having a completely different type of vacation experience - quiet and outdoorsy. We have stayed at other WDW properties (ie. AKL and POR) and this is the only place where I felt separated from the parks at the end of the day (in a good way!).

My kids are a bit older now and we will be staying at the Poly this year as we will want more park time - a little more commando, but I cannot recommend the cabins enough (actually my husband wanted to stay there again this year!).

Another vote for the monorail. The ability to keep your sleeping child in his stroller on that monorail is HUGE!

Keep in mind: there's a walking path from the MK to the Contemporary. So a cranky child can be back in his room in record time, regardless of the monorail line.

That said, I love the POLY and would recommend it to anyone!!! And the ability to walk from the TTC after a day at Epcot (As opposed to going down the ramp, up another ramp, and waiting for the other monorail) is huge!!
