I have always stayed at Moderate or Deluxe hotels at WDW, but am considering a value stay for just me and ds next year. With only the two of us we don't need that much room, and he is so young he doesn't need a fancy pool or digs. ;) I will also be looking at renting DVC points for a studio.

If we stay at a value, which would you recommend for a mom and almost 3yo boy? It will most likely be in October.

Thank you!

I would think younger kids would be the most likely to want a big fancy pool, as you get older you care less and just want to take a quick dip in between parks and meal times.
Anyways, Depends on what he likes. Does he like sports? Would you enjoy it? If so, try All Star Sports. Also, there is All Star music and movies. AOA is a bit more expensive but is definitely a very cool value, probably a rival with POP. I think he wouldn't like POP, and for his age he may not like sports yet, so ASMo, ASMu or AOA would definitely work for a kid his age. They also have quick service food courts which are convenient.

Well he is my first kid so maybe I am wrong. :upsidedow I thought at around 3yo he wouldn't need a fancy pool, I thought I could save now and then go for the fancier digs around 6yo.

I did see a fun water play area at Kidani that he would probably like at 3yo, I will check into renting points there again. The standard view wasn't that much more than a value but I did get a good deal that time.

Thank you for your input.

My son loved All Star Sports when he was that age. He loved the larger than life basketballs, the football field and the humongous shark fins by the Surf pool. I really liked it there as well, a lot more than I ever thought I would. Now that we have DVC I keep saying we'll have to go back for a night or two.

That sounds fun for a kid, did you use the bus service? How was it?

Thanks. :)

Bus service was great, actually. In the afternoon, the all stars sometimes share buses but in the morning each one had their own bus. When the resorts do share Sports is always the first to pick up and drop off. We never had to stand. When we stayed at Movies the bus was already close to being full when it came to pick us up a few times. For that reason, we liked Sports much better.

Oh that is good to know, thank you. :)

Who knows what he'll like! You're probably better off as you said it, a smaller pool. You'd know him the best! If you're going to be spending more time at the parks, you're better off staying at a Value!

AoA seemed to have better play areas for kids. I do not like that the playground is out of the way at POP. During our first visit there when my son was most likely to enjoy it I did not even know it was there. At four my son just liked looking at the large statues all the values have them but overall the grounds are nicer at AoA.

I would go where you are going to be most comfortable, and enjoy. Your 3 yr old will be happy anywhere. All the Disney resorts have things that appeal to kids.

Totally agree! Your almost 3 year old will be happy wherever mom is happy. Go with your gut instinct where you think you will be most comfortable. For me, my priority as a mom traveling alone with child, was convenience getting from park to resort and vice versa. Think about what is your number one priority and go from there. I am not trying to dissuade you from considering a Value, as a family we have stayed at all of them (except AoA, we are staying there in Sept) and absolutely love them all. When traveling alone though, sometimes our comfort zone changes. Good luck. Best wishes. And have a blast on your mom and son trip!

Thanks everyone. I am thinking I will probably rent DVC points again for a studio, but will price that option against All Star Sports and AoA.

:)
