Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Heather , I have to say you truely have an eye for frameing when it comes to taking pictures. You could be a pro IMO after seeing all the wonderful shots you have posted here and on your TR.

While it has been months since I have stopped by, stepdisney you know I boasted I was cured remember?! LOL

I still did some changing for my Jan trip....just did a last minute trip, had 2 weeks to plan, so NO time for changing!
HA!
It was a split stay trip...and the day before I was to check into SSR, I called DVC and a room opened up at OKW! and I changed! LOL

I wanted to see the new rooms, and wanted palm trees and not horses! Even though we love SSR, our home resort....just not this trip.

So stepdisney.....its been FOUR years and these threads are still going strong! I love it!!

Good Morning RCs!!!

For all you GF lovers, here's a little something to start your day...or Poly lovers, since the picture was taken there. Gotta love both...such beautiful resorts!

DSC_1682-1.jpg

The Poly has gotten some pretty bad reviews lately, but dang....ya just can't beat the view there!!! It's one of the best at WDW!

Have a great morning!
Heather

 Beautiful! :goodvibes

I was so annoyed with my DH last night, that I forgot I was going to comment on this. OMG that is so cool!! I do love SW and I just love Harrison Ford. I was laying in bed, going off to sleep and I literally sat up and said, "omg Harrison Ford was in her inlaws wedding."[/FONT]

Well poo. My DS made is clear that he didn't want a Royal room, but he loved the idea of a HM themed room. I guess we'll to suffer over at the WL.

That is really cool that Harrison ford was at her in laws wedding! :)

I'm glad that you have (almost) decided to suffer over at WL. :rotfl2:

Yesterday I posted a question here that I'd love everyone's thoughts on. Here's what I posted:

Do any of you read the AllEars reviews? Of course you do. Well, I've read them so many times I think I have all the CL ones memorized. Here are some facts I reminded myself of today:

~The Poly CL is the lowest rated of all the CLs! In fact, it's the only CL rated in the 7s (all the others are 8s and a 9+).

~Out of the non-CL Deluxe resorts, the Poly is almost the highest rated resort.

What do you guys make of one resort having both the (almost) highest and the lowest ratings? Seems like CL at the Poly really ends up killing the whole resort experience. This goes completely against what I was hoping in booking CL at the Poly. I thought that CL would somehow make our Poly experience this time around better not worse.

Ok, honestly? I've posted about this before, and I really don't think that Poly CL is worth the money. And, for some reason, I completely forgot that you were staying CL there or I would have changed my response to your WL vs Poly question. :guilty:

I love the regular Poly rooms and my regular Poly stays. But after one CL stay there, I will not book it again, unless it's free. I just didn't feel that it was worth the money. So that might be part of the reason why the regular stays get such high marks and the Cl stays don't.

But I can say that I would definitely book a TPV room there in a split second. Seeing the Castle head -on from your window is the most magical sight to fall asleep to and wake up to. :cloud9:

:)I hope I don't get any "poo" smells waffling my way when I'm there in August ... oh well, no savannah view for me (unless I get upgraded) so many the poo smells won't be as strong! :rotfl2:

After four stays there I still haven't smelled a single bit of poo. Unless it was coming from some small kids diaper. :rotfl: Seriously, they do a wonderful job of removing any animal smells. It isn't anything like the smell at a zoo. :goodvibes

I suspect that the problem is since the 14th floor Tower Club level is being renovated and is closed until the fall, the 12th floor Atrium Club level seems to be closed as well due to the noise of the construction right above it.
Well this past Janurary after we made our reservation at the Boardwalk Inn for our Deluxe Club Level Room, I looked online with the previous 35% room only discount we used and the Atrium Club was available for our dates and it was also available at the rack rate. Then around mid March when we made our Club Level reservations at the Beach Club with the same 35% room only discount, this time the Atrium Club was sold out. Well ever since that time it's been sold out with the rack rate when looking up both sets of dates we have reserved, so I guess that it is closed during the 14th floor renovations. It would have been interesting what would have happened if we did make a reservation up there and possibly being told that we need to switch resorts.

Now that's probably just what happened. I've been trying for dates for the Atrium Club too, with no luck. Good thing you had already booked Beach Club!

Hello Ladies and Germs, :teeth:

Well, there has been a small wrinkle in our plans this summer. DSIL and my DN's princess:princess: ages 8 and 6 will be joining us on our trip.

I was going to have them stay with us at OKW, but it seems that the room only holds 5 people. :sad1: So, since DSIL really doesn't care where she stays as long as its at WDW, I have them booked at AsMo. :cool1:

So the boys are very happy and I'm very happy. We have a built in babysitter in DS18, (with DS11's help, natch ;)) and my DSIL and I get to enjoy :cloud9: a spouseless trip to WDW. :yay:

Can you say "Spa Treatment"? :cool1:

At the time we reserved the Beach Club we were also considering Sugar Loaf at the Grand Floridian. However if the Contemporary Atrium Club was available then our decision would have been a lot harder.

Now you tell me! I was a little surprised when you emphatically told me NOT to change my Poly/CL reservation to YC or WL. I followed orders and haven't changed - yet;). Not that DH hasn't encouraged me today to change, but I got a little wrapped up in my new iPhone 4:goodvibes.

I'll be there in under 3 weeks and I'm defintely going to ask at check-in about the Atrium Club.

:eek:Hey, are you calling Jason a Germ?

Not a wrinkle, an enhancement;). Built in babysitter sounds great and now your DS has some kids to pal around with. I think this is a win-win for everyone. How do you plan on meeting up everyday? In the parks?

Oh, I almost forgot, "spa teatment"::yes::

Hello my decision challenged brethren. I'm posting from bed down the shore because we're away for the weekend and little miss fussy pants finally detached her mouth from my body lol. Anyway I have a stumper for you all. I posted on the GF FAQ but wanted to ask my "family" :flower3:

I called cro this morning to switch both packages to the AP rate. Poly was already discounted 30% and GF was 35% but had a 1 day base ticket to add dining. The CM I spoke to was able to change my Poly ressie to the pass holder rate without a problem, however told me I was upgrading from garden view to standard view and lowering my package by $50. I thought GV and SV were the same thing in Sugar Loaf :confused3 and if I'm removing 2 one day base tickets my savings should have been around $150. Who wants to try and figure this one out? :rotfl:

No, I wasn't calling Jason a germ. But it did sound like it! :rotfl:

Sorry about the whole brain fart on Poly CL thing. :sad2: I really didn't like it though. I liked AKL CL a lot better. :)

Most of our trip is still up in the air. :) I do know that pool time will probably be over at AsMo since we're staying on points. :thumbsup2

I'd call and check. You can't get a specific category over at SL, unless you book a suite. There are only marina views and pool views. Sounds like somebody at CRO made a boo boo! :goodvibes

That's what I figured

Too funny. My DH is absolutely wonderful about my WDW Resort obsession and will stay practically anywhere - except AKL. DD and I stayed at AKL SV last August and I just loved the SV and sitting on the balcony watching all the animals, but DH thinks like your DH about the SV and those freely roaming animals. Now if he could hunt there...:scratchin

WL is DH's second favorite (CR is first). I think about the WL too when we drive past a Bass Pro Shop!
I was just thinking that on Friday. We went to the mall to see a movie for our wedding anniversary and when I said that to my DH he told me that I was "obsessed to the point of being crazy". I just rolled my eyes and said, "oh yeah, well I'm not the one who take a nappie at night so I can raid in World of Warcraft from 11:30 PM - 3:30 AM and still get up for work at 8 AM."
:)Hi RCers!! Busy, busy day again for me at work. Also had to take DD to the dermatologist and it ended up taking 3 hours combined with getting bloodwork

Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend. :goodvibes

Darn!! I had so wanted those rooms ... just think Disney is missing a great opportunity to get a new category for this mod ... a nice big surcharge to stay in those rooms during MNSSHP!

Happy 4th to you too Christine!!

Okay, now I hope I don't get any "poo" smells waffling my way when I'm there in August ... oh well, no savannah view for me (unless I get upgraded) so many the poo smells won't be as strong! :rotfl2:

WDWKOOK: Have you considered staying CL at the CR? Not sure it you don't want to or if it is not available. Then you could stay at the POLY and not do the CL. Just a thought.

Heather: You are the queen of pix!! :worship: Love, love your GF/ POLY pix of the day!! :thumbsup2

I hate going to the doctor. It seems like it takes half the day, and they never see you on time. I hate getting blood work done on me and even more so on my DSs. My youngest has petite mal seizures, and the last time he had blood work he had the biggest one I had ever seen. Hopefully you weekend got better.
We've had a pretty good one. Friday was our wedding anniversary. We've been married 16 yrs and a little over 17 yrs ago we met at the MK. We went to an "eat in" movie theatre that had just been renovated to make it "eat in". We saw the Hangover 2. I LOVED the theatre!! The theatre we were in, you had to be at least 21 to be in it. The seats were large recliners that you pressed a button to recline. They could go all the way back until you were in a lying down position. You can buy alcohol, and I had a mixed drink. Then when they brought us our Sprite and Lemonade, they brought us free salted caramel popcorn. When they brought our bill, it came with warm wet towels to clean our faces and hands. Then as we left there was a guy with a tray that had Ghiradelli chocolate mints. After that I told DH that I needed my Disney fix, and that he had no choice but to come with me to the Disney store. The mall is a race track shape and the movie theatre isn't really close to the Disney store. Well as we were walking, DH kept insisted that they must have closed it. I kept insisting that it was open. I wasn't totally sure, but I wasn't going to let him know that. Then I could finally see the red Mickey ears that are above the door. When I pointed it out to him, he looked really disappointed. I finally ended up buying a Mickey water bottle, and when I got up to pay for it the lady that was checking me out asked if I wanted this big Mickey bag for $1.50. Well DH heard them asking other people and he told me I couldn't have one. I had to have one!! It had Mickey heads on it and some were green. Of course when she asked me, I said yes. I need a bag for my knitting stuff. He looked at me and said "no", I said, "yes", and then he said, "there is no way people are paying $1.50 for that bag". I said "of course they are, it has Mickey heads on it and it's just $1.50." At this point I look at the sales person and she just shook her head "yes" and said that many were buying the bags. I told her that I wanted to buy it and as she was getting it I informed my DH that people that bought these bags didn't hate Mickey, unlike him. He claims to not hate Mickey, he's just not "obsessed" like me. After all that trouble to get the bag, I lost it that night some where in the house. Then yesterday we took the entire family to see Transformers 3. I don't want to say much, b/c I don't know who has seen it. I will say...OMG LOVED IT!!
I think they are missing a great opportunity not doing the HM rooms as well. They should just put them over at the POFQ.
Hopefully, you'll get some pixie dust sprinkled on you and you'll get the upgrade. If you don't, I'm sure you'll still have a great view. I just can't believe that there is that much of a smell. I would think that if there was, there would be more threads like "Disney should change the name of the SV AKL rooms to the poo view rooms".

 Beautiful! :goodvibes

That is really cool that Harrison ford was at her in laws wedding! :)

I'm glad that you have (almost) decided to suffer over at WL. :rotfl2:

Well if I have to suffer somewhere, the WL seems like a good place for it. Although I would really love to try it someday at the CR or BLT in an MKV room.

See that's what I thought about the smell. I just can't believe that people will pay the extra money and then have it smell like the inside of the diaper bin in the infant room of a day care.

I am back from Williamsburg. We had a wonderfully patriotic 4th-of-July mini vacation. :thumbsup2 My official 45 day mark is tomorrow. We decided to stay with YC......(but you all KNOW that that WILL change if I get there and hate it). Gave up on Kidani.....I think....unless I get up tomorrow morning and have a changitis attack.

Hi Disneybride! I KNEW that you were still a RC! Miss you over here. You have to keep coming by for interventions. For Resort Changeritis there is no cure :sad2:. As long as Disney continues to create new resorts and updates themes and rooms at the old resorts......our job here at RC not-so-anonymous will never be over. How did you like the new rooms at OKW? Remember how I changed from SSR to Kidani.....at check in......:scared1: :rotfl2: and how you had to tell me where I was staying.....:flower3: How are things with the little one? OMG has she started school yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

"SPA TREATMENT"....... There....I said it.......:goodvibes Your trip sounds like a dream. Does the build-in baby sitter know yet? :lmao: 8 and 6 are great ages. They don't need the required nap time any more ...... although I still need a nap

Who's on first??? :goodvibes I thought that GV and SV were the same thing too. Did they forget to remove the 2 day base tickets? I would call back and ask for them to explain what your reservations read now. Sometimes they get confused. That happened to me once and I almost lost my discount, if I had not read the email confirmation I wouldn't have caught it in time.

WDWKOOK,
Here are the only two negatives I just remembered about our Polynesian Club Level stay in December 2007.

1) When we arrived it took at least 10 minutes for a Cast Member to come with the golf cart to take us over to the Hawaii Longhouse. Even though that might not seem like a big deal during our previous Club Level stays at the Contemporary there was always a Cast Member who meet us right away as soon as we got out of our car. So we were disappointed with that part of the service and we kept hearing it will only be another minute until they arrive, when the Cast Member working at Bell Services stand didn't seem to care.

2) One of the lights in our bathroom wasn't working and it took at least 3 days until a Maintenance Cast Member was able to come and fix it. Now that's not the fault of their Club Level Cast Members in anyway because all they can do is call them. Plus in general I have found when calling for things to be fixed it takes a Maintenance Cast Member along time to arrive no matter the resort. For example I remember a couple times at the Contemporary when we needed a new remote for the TV and I had call at least 2 or 3 times for someone to come up for something that simple.

I was just thinking that on Friday. We went to the mall to see a movie for our wedding anniversary and when I said that to my DH he told me that I was "obsessed to the point of being crazy". . :)

:rotfl:

HI back at ya!!! I remember when you FIRST started changing:lmao:
I guess I am too, I changed the day before check in!

I peeked at your Solo triP! Very Nice!

Thank you! :goodvibes

I remember that - it was 2008 when FD came out and I went totally psycho nuts. I was changing resorts 4-5 times a day! :lmao:

Good thing I've managed to tone it down a little bit! :rotfl:

I need naps too :rotfl:

We will probably get pedicures if they don't cost too much, or at least get facials. :goodvibes

Knowing DSIL though, she would be happy if we just had some quiet time at the pool without the kids around. :rotfl2:

DS18 is looking forward to babysitting. He loves babysitting (:confused3) and never argues about doing it. I think all of the responsibility gives him a big head. :rotfl2:

Well, if those were the only negatives for you, then I feel better:goodvibes.

While the issues you mention are annoying, they aren't a big deal to us. We prefer to walk to the Hawaii bldg. anyway and I've found getting a light bulb to be replaced nearly impossible at every resort. At the WL I actually took the burnt-out bulb and laid it on the nightstand and there it sat for 2-3 days:sad2:.

My (CL) resort concerns focus on:

The cleanliness of the room, public areas and the lounge.

The replenishment of the food and drinks.

CM attitude/friendliness.

The location and theming/style of the resort.

I'm still booked at the Poly/CL (over a month now!) and I would only really consider switching if a YC/CL/GV room came open. The CR is completely booked the 5 nights we're there. Do you think it'll seem like a madhouse?

CM attitude/friendliness.

The location and theming/style of the resort.

I'm still booked at the Poly/CL (over a month now!) and I would only really consider switching if a YC/CL/GV room came open. The CR is completely booked the 5 nights we're there. Do you think it'll seem like a madhouse?
Well the major one for us was waiting to be taken to the Hawaii Longhouse because I mentioned how at the Contemporary someone a Cast Member was already waiting for us when we got out of our car. Some people might say that's expecting to much, although for what the rooms cost is that a lot to ask and since it was our first time staying there we didn't know where the Hawaii Longhouse was located if we felt like walking over there.

As for your concerns I remember our room was always clean, along with the lounge. There were even a few days when we had some down time at the Polynesian and our Housekeeper appologized to me because she wanted to clean our room when I was in there.

The food and drinks always got replaced when they needed to be.

When it comes to the Cast Members the ones who worked at the Hawaii Longhouse entrnace where you check-in were very friendly. The ones who worked in the kitchen area of the lounge were ok, although I do remember one who wasn't that friendly. Now since we only stayed there in December 2007 maybe that one rude Cast Member isn't working there anymore, however I couldn't remember what she looked like if we stayed there a second time.

Finally about the Contemporary being a madhouse I say when is not busy? There are always going to be guests who are there to eat at the California Grill, Chef Mickey's, The Wave and even the Contempo Cafe that don't stay there. Plus chances are some will use the Resort Monorail and it means bigger lines for that and a lot of times they are always hosting conventions. Finally don't forget about all the guests coming from Bay Lake Tower.
