Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

We must be the multi-quote champions of the DIS, but I still worry I've left someone out. Do you guys get admonished, too for having too many images in your post?

It might be my last trip for two whole years so I want to make the most of it.

I vote for YC. Better lobby (IMO) nicer lodgings, guaranteed balcony, and better interior color scheme.

I know you think it'll be two years, but why do I find that hard to believe? I think might is the operative word in your post;). I vote for YC, too.

I have been doing well. Been busy working. I had my "niece's" birthday party yesterday. She turned one on Friday. She is such a cutie! I think she's really starting to like me. She doesn't really like guys, but she loves DBF! She got a trampoline from one of her dad's parents. She can't really jump, but she loved pressing her face against the netting and when we would push down on the trampoline so she would start bouncing up and down. It was so much fun.

DBF and I went to my grandparents' house for Father's Day and Grampa's Birthday (His birthday was also on Friday) yesterday after the party and my family enjoyed seeing DBF. They seem to like him so I'm glad he will most likely be accepted into the family if we were to get married. :) They spoil him so much. He got a case of beer that only comes out once a year for real cheap from my Uncle (he is the owner of one of our family's grocery stores and they get beer from the company that makes the beer he asked for so my uncle was able to put in an order for him) and my grampa gives us Cubs tickets since he is a season ticket holder so we all get to go for free. My boyfriend is a Cubs fan (BOO!) so he's lucky. We went to the Yankees-Cubs game last night as well. Which I was surprised we even got those tickets since I figured someone else would have gotten them since we doesn't always get what we ask for. So, my boyfriend is spoiled. He is going to be spoiled rotten by my dad's family. :rotfl: He is lucky that he is dating me. We joke that the only reason he is dating me is to get free Cubs tickets. :lmao:

Anyways, I'm hoping DBF and I can talk about the trip next year to see how long we want to stay so I can call Disney and let them know about the changes. I want to change something!
DBF sure is lucky and you have been busy. I'd ask you for help with a change, but I actually don't have any pending or proposed changes. Weird, huh?

Multi-quote Monday is right!!! I lost count of the posts I wanted to quote. :goodvibes

@Disneydreamin' we are now booked at YC....I think... BUT today my DS called me and they ARE making it to the world :yay: I am sooo happy. They are not staying on site, however :scared1:. They are military so I we were trying to convince them to take advantage of the great discounts :sad2:. I'm just grateful that they are making their 1st Disney trip. I thought I scared them away with all of the "Options" I gave them. :rotfl2: I sneaked a peek at the Poly site and thought "OMG, we could stay here, next to the TTC and get to Epcot quickly....." :scared1:

That's great that your DS can join you. I really would encourage him to try and take advantage of the Military Salute offers or at least try to stay at SOG. Here's a link to my Armed Forces Salute extension thread if you want to know all the details:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2704405

I'd choose the YC over the BC. In fact, we were booked BC and switched to YC. No renovations are going on right now at the YC and I just find it to be a much calmer and quieter atmosphere, especially in the lobby area and CL lounge.

:rotfl: WDWKOOK, I got lucky on the Ohana guess!! I messed up with you and Magic...itis (who stated she was going to Ohanas!) That's what I get for flipping between screens, trying to multi-quote when I supposed to be working!!

My DD is going into 8th grade too ... can't believe how fast her first year in middle school went by. It seems not so long ago, she was my little girl, lovin' the princesses ....

I almost didn't book 'Ohana because the food just isn't what it used to be there. But, I like to immerse myself in the resort on check-in day by dining there, so 'Ohana is a good place to eat if you want to really feel like you're at the Poly (we didn't like the Spirit of Aloha show). We love Kona, but prefer it for lunch and breakfast.

My DD will be home from her last day of 7th grade in about a half hour. Where did this year go?

:wave2: Hello everyone! Just wanted to say hi! WDWkook invited me over to this thread....guess she realized after reading my recent TR, that I have some serious issues with 'Resort Changing' Not sure if my disease is curable, though....each time I've made a resort ressie, it's been changed, modified, upgraded...you name it:scared1:

Kaffinito,, after reading your recent TR, I've been tempted to stay at Port Orleans for our short trip in February....I'm sure it will change:rolleyes1. By the way, Kaffinito, we had an incredible evening at V&A...thanks for all the great tips!!!

So happy to be a part of a :grouphug: with issues! Thanks WDWkook;)

Happy Tuesday!
Heather
You found us! Yippee! I know you'll fit right in with us:grouphug:. While it isn't curable, the effects of resort changitis can be lessened by posting to this thread. We all have many resort opinions/experiences and we all know exactly what you're going through, so don't hesitate to bounce your thoughts off of us. In fact, we'd love to see a resumé of your past changes:hyper:.

I also want to plug your great TR. Check it out everyone - great photos! The link is at the bottom of Heather's post.

To all my RC friends :wave2: Missed you all. Worked way too much....I am sooooooooooooo tired. I feel like I've missed so much. Now with all the kiddos home, NO :surfweb: time for mom...DS 5 had to get glasses yesterday, so that's 2 Princesses in glasses now (3 if I count) but another chunk of money from vacation fund, so yet another shift mom needs to work. It's OK though Katie got the cutest frames. :lovestruc

To Heather and Janet :welcome:

Back to the kiddos, I will try to catch up later.....
Missed you, too! You do work too much, especially considering you have five kids at home. I don't know how you do it, but I know your kids are very lucky . I'd love to see a photo of the new glasses:3dglasses. I bet she's cute as a button. Are your kids good with their glasses? One parent told me her child had been through so many glasses in elementary school that she had lost track. I hope you have much better luck!

I'm glad you guys are supporting my new plan. :goodvibes Now I just need to get engaged for all this to fall into place. :rotfl: I'm already planning a honeymoon and I'm not even engaged yet. :lmao: I pray it be soon. :cloud9 But I don't want to rush anything. I'm just a planner and I have a wild imagination.

@Janet: I know right? I'm hoping to continue to be able to be just as sneaky and creative.

sjs314: I want to do a Disney Cruise so bad! Mom doesn't want to do a Disney Cruist next year. She just wants to do a regular cruise. I'm so bummed! :sad2: But going on a cruise would be fun!

My brother is going to Arizona for school and while he is going to be in Tuscon, I'm going to try and get my parents to let me go to Disneyland for a day when we visit him for family day/weekend.

WDWKOOK: What!? You need to change something!

Hannah - You missed your chance with me too :rotfl: Since changeing my resort last week I changed just about every ADR I had planned previously :lmao:

In fact you can still help maybe?

DH decided he wants to visit all the MK resorts so I made an ADR for the Wave one morning, I am hopeing they keep the breakfast buffet since DH loves breakfast buffets, anyhow did you and your grandmother eat at the Wave? If so how was it? I do not want to do CM been there done that and it was so very loud.

Just jumping in to say that The Wave's breakfast buffet is permanent and we have it booked next month so I'll report my findings. Here's some info from March:

There’s still an a la carte menu, but we recommend the bountiful buffet, tucked behind a wall at the back of the dining room. Well-lit and spotless, smaller serving dishes are often replenished from the nearby kitchen to keep tastes fresh and hot – creamy grits and bacon, housemade gravy (that tastes like grandma makes), hash browns, quiche, piping hot scrambled eggs, omelets made to order. But we really loved the sweet potato pancakes with a dollop of sweetened butter. They don’t even need syrup.

Chef Frank Brough is most proud of the locally grown fruits and veggies. “It’s the peak of the Florida citrus season, and we’re featuring locally grown citrus – Honeybell oranges, pink grapefruit, Plant City strawberries, carambola (star fruit) from South Florida,” Chef Frank explained.

And you can eat healthfully – or not. The granola is homemade, delicious with strawberry yogurt and topped with fresh berries. There’s oatmeal and turkey sausage and multi-grain mini-muffins. But there’s also cinnamon-vanilla bread pudding, and a coffee cake version of the “Sticky Mickey” buns that we used to love at Concourse Steakhouse (featured from time to time on the buffet). Sous Chef Dylan Schauwecker says the apple strudel mini-muffins are another guest favorite
.

O M G!!!! You had me at Sticky Mickey Buns!!!!! :woohoo:

Ok,,,,,now I've got to add The Wave onto the dining itinerary! :goodvibes

Last year was as ridiculous as this year....this is how the 2010 trip started...

AKL standard view > AKL Savannah view > Poly GV > Poly CL GV >and finally after the 40% off... Poly CL TPV

2011 trip....BCV > AKL CL > CR GW > and finally...CR BLV:rolleyes:

Not sure what I'm going to do for February, yet. There are only a handful of resorts that are host resorts for the 1/2 marathon....so that narrows my choices...it will either be a mod or deluxe...just not sure which one:confused3

Would you believe I RARELY change my ADRs??!! Once I have them set, the trip revolves around the food:laughing:....we like DxDP. By the way, we ate at the Wave last Octobere before MNSSHP....it was AWESOME!! It was basically the only ressie we could get....our trip was kind of spur of the moment! We were all very pleasantly surprised!

WDWKOOK...you are right about Ohana! Not sure what is going on there??!:confused3 I would still probably return, just because I love their bread pudding and the Poly, but service was terrible.

When we changed resorts I had to change most of our ressies since almost everything was centered around Epcot and the Epcot resort area.
I am with you about the vacation being about food, that is always a major element of our trips too.

Y'all are movin' waaay to fast for me today, so I'll just jump in right here and add breakfast at The Wave to our WildNana's2012Birthday itinerary.:thumbsup2 Oh.my.goodness!! I'm now so hungry heading downstairs for a weight watchers ice cream treat!

Will catch up with all the posts this afternoon...I just love when this thread gets a talkin'! :dance3: Now, if I can figure out how to keep up that would be even better.;) :worship:

Interesting:scratchin, you've canceled AKL twice and not yet re-booked? Is the location/transportation holding you back? It was for me, so last August I booked just 3 nights of an 11 night visit when DH was deployed (he does not want to stay "way over there so far from everything"). We had a resort day, a water park day, and an AK day. It worked out well and we really enjoyed a few nights there. Ironically, there was a bus glitch coming back from the AK to AKL and it took about an hour:eek:. Normally, we always drive to AK, but I thought that since we were staying at AKL it would be easy peasy, well, it wasn't very easy or peasy...

I don't change ADRs much, either (unless I change resorts;)). We know where we want to eat, I look at the park hours and schedule the park that doesn't have any EMH that day and voilà, I make an ADR.

Our trips revolve around food, too:thumbsup2. It is the highlight and topic of much discussion of our planning. Now you know why I always worry about where we'll jog and workout;)

Thanks so very much to pointing me in the direction of the information. :) It sounds perfect so now I will not need to worry about switching the ADR to someplace else

Adding The Wave breakfast to my list of things to research tonight at work... :surfweb:
You have a list of things to research? How exciting! How is DS's tooth today? Is it a baby tooth?

Okay, you had me on creamy grits......just a country girl at heart (From the Jersey Shore) :goodvibes

@Kaffinito: No YOU are the QUEEN!! princess: (they don't have a queen smiley). You have to decide where and when we will meet because I can't....I'm having resort change issues...thinking about Poly....:scared1:

Thanks to SOMEONE....who says "I'd say go to Poly" that is all I have been considering today.

I typed a long post with multiple quotes and it just disappeared on me today. Speaking of disappearing, I have to create a link so that we won't get locked out of the page. I think that we are fast approaching our limit over here. I'm going to try to get us back to the resort page instead of "codes and rates". We haven't quite figured out why we were placed here.

I am looking forward to the resort changers meet. We have to pick a day, time and venue....yes a venue. I can image us just meeting in the middle of the street somewhere because we couldn't decide on a resort, with question marks on our tee shirts..... :scared1:  We need to come up with a Tee shirt or a button for our meet. Maybe a question mark....:goodvibes Any suggestions????

Hstrickland and every new RC Welcome!!! Your resort-change issues are safe here. ;) Don't worry, if you forget where you are staying, someone here will remind you.....(been there, done that....) :goodvibes

Yeah Hannah! You will do well in marriage. The trick is to let them THINK they have the upper hand and that they make the decisions ... when we know better :goodvibes We are, as you say, a little sneaky and devious. It's an art form, really! :rotfl:

;) Well put. And Hannah, I'm rooting for you and your DBF!

We quite enjoy Boma and Kona, and The Wave for breakfast.
Our party of DH, DM, DF, DB & I all found The Wave enjoyable... something for everyone. I like the granola and the vanilla bread pudding with cinnamon.

Yes, us too. The food is a BIG part of the trip for us, too. We usually don't change dining ressies as we have our faves and also know which ones we'd like to try if we haven't already. Our original BW, then YC/BW split, then YC ressies for Aug had us centered heavily around restaurants from the Epcot resort area. But now we spread out more as we'll be "busing it" more from CBR.

Have you reserved your first resort yet so you get lots of RCs in before your trip!

Ditto! We did Yachtsman as a back-up thinking we could talk ourselves out of O'Hana. But when push came to shove, we picked O'Hana AGAIN. The last few years now: Our meat skewers are mostly dry as shoeleather, and service is spotty at best. But somehow we keep going back for... potstickers? YEP Ambiance? THE BEST Poly Mama? YOU BETCHA We're hopeless POLY romantics I guess. :confused3

Exactly I had quite a few at the BC/YC and since I planned on heading back to BC in the afternoon, I ended up having to change 3 of our Epcot ones in favor of ADRs for the parks we will be visiting in the am/earlypm

When I changed resorts the other times, I had not made any ADRs yet

So glad you enjoyed V&A! :goodvibes

Yes!! I know we only overlap a day or two, but let's figure out a plan. (I may be going back on 8/23. Maybe all the RC'ers can have a group DISmeet? Note to Karen: Bring your cell phone charger!!

Meet! Meet! Meet!

And yes, extra chargers for the next trip!

LOL @ sneaky. DH and I have discussed doing the Disney Mediterrian Cruise out of Barcelona but I have already told him either before or after we are going to DisneyLand Paris for a couple of days.

:rotfl: Smart! :rotfl2:

I am glad Gracie had a better week too. Yes RC trip A MUST I will be in Fla. Aug 22-Sep 1st. We'll be on the Gulf Coast til 25th when we go to Universal...but we'll have a car so I will totally travel to meet my RC girls:goodvibes

Not sneaky...creative:lmao:

To all my RC friends :wave2: Missed you all. Worked way too much....I am sooooooooooooo tired. I feel like I've missed so much. Now with all the kiddos home, NO time for mom...DS 5 had to get glasses yesterday, so that's 2 Princesses in glasses now (3 if I count) but another chunk of money from vacation fund, so yet another shift mom needs to work. It's OK though Katie got the cutest frames.

To Heather and Janet :welcome:

Back to the kiddos, I will try to catch up later.....

So sorry you have to work so much, and with the kids on top of it - yikes~!

Sorry you're working so much. I know what you mean about chunks of vacation funds going elsewhere. DS was up with a toothache last night so that means a pretty penny will be going to the dentist today.

Hope his tooth turns out ok!

We must be the multi-quote champions of the DIS, but I still worry I've left someone out. Do you guys get admonished, too for having too many images in your post?

I know you think it'll be two years, but why do I find that hard to believe? I think might is the operative word in your post. I vote for YC, too.

You found us! Yippee! I know you'll fit right in with us. While it isn't curable, the effects of resort changitis can be lessened by posting to this thread. We all have many resort opinions/experiences and we all know exactly what you're going through, so don't hesitate to bounce your thoughts off of us. In fact, we'd love to see a resumé of your past changes.

Thank you for dragging Heather over here! :goodvibes

It will seriously be two years for the boys. I might be able to sneak in a another solo trip, in fact they're kind of counting on it, but the boys need to go to other more historical places other than Disney. Plus we won't have enough DVC points to go next year without an add on.

I know. Bad Momma. :guilty:

And yes, I always get admonished for having too many images in my posts.

I'm glad you guys are supporting my new plan. Now I just need to get engaged for all this to fall into place. I'm already planning a honeymoon and I'm not even engaged yet. I pray it be soon. But I don't want to rush anything. I'm just a planner and I have a wild imagination.

Love your imagination Hannah! :goodvibes

O M G!!!! You had me at Sticky Mickey Buns!!!!!

Ok,,,,,now I've got to add The Wave onto the dining itinerary!

Best. Quote. Ever. Hope the Tag Fairy sees that one!

Last year was as ridiculous as this year....this is how the 2010 trip started...

AKL standard view > AKL Savannah view > Poly GV > Poly CL GV >and finally after the 40% off... Poly CL TPV

2011 trip....BCV > AKL CL > CR GW > and finally...CR BLV

Not sure what I'm going to do for February, yet. There are only a handful of resorts that are host resorts for the 1/2 marathon....so that narrows my choices...it will either be a mod or deluxe...just not sure which one

Heather

Impressive! I told you you belonged here! :rotfl2:

Y'all are movin' waaay to fast for me today, so I'll just jump in right here and add breakfast at The Wave to our WildNana's2012Birthday itinerary. Oh.my.goodness!! I'm now so hungry heading downstairs for a weight watchers ice cream treat!

Will catch up with all the posts this afternoon...I just love when this thread gets a talkin'! Now, if I can figure out how to keep up that would be even better.

Way way too fast! :goodvibes

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::lmao::lmao::lmao:

OMG! Funniest thing I've heard in ages! :lmao:

I so totally vote for a Question Mark! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

(And this is why you, my dear, are the Queen, and not me. ;))

An hour!!?:scared1: Good grief!.... Your DH sounds like me! I love the resort, but every time I think about having to travel only by bus, I start rethinking...AND rebooking:rolleyes1 We will eventually do a short trip there. Most of the places we like to dine are centered around MK resorts, though.

Create that link;)...yall keep me laughing! And thanks for the words of encouragement...if I forget...I'll call on one of you:laughing: Notice I don't have any resort over my ticker:confused3

:confused3

We finally got smart and asked them to bring out our meat rare....then it was perfect...not shoeleather:laughing: I'm sure we will probably go back once again even though the service was the worst we've had in several trips!

More tomorrow:surfweb:

Guess who has a slim chance of going to WDW in September! My friend said she will try to convince her parents to let me tag along for her birthday trip this September. She is staying at OKW (her parents own there) from the 14 - 20. I doubt they will let me, but it's worth a shot. :lmao: I even checked flights for the dates my friend is going and I can fly for $200 round trip. They aren't non-stop flights, but they are $80 each way and I would much rather do that. I hope she lets me know if I can tag along or not because I want to book those flights now. lol I would love to go to MNSSHP and dress up as Alice. :lovestruc If they won't let me, we plan on going together some day. Maybe she can go with me if DBF doesn't want to go. Hmmmm. . .

@Stepdisney: OMG! That is too funny! I can just imagine it now. We change while at WDW because we can't decide. :lmao:
