Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Happy Monday RC’s (wait -- do “happy” and “Monday” really go together??)

It was a busy week for me – work, DD had finals all last week (she did really well, I’m very proud of her!) As kind of a late birthday and end of the year treat, on Sat. I took her and her BFF to NYC to tour the Harry Potter Exhibition in Times Square. It was wonderful to see the props, clothing, etc. from the films. Both girls just finished reading the series so are very into HP. We walked around everywhere afterwards and I got back at 10:30 pm, exhausting but fun!

Yesterday, we went out for dinner for Father’s day and ended up at a Japanese restaurant (a far cry from the BBQ DH was originally planning to have!) See my DH can change his mind too! :lmao:

@Janet: You are more than welcome to comment! I don't care if you are new to the thread, I appreciate the input very much! I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has a significant other who just doesn't seem to get the magic of Disney. :sad2:

Hannah: Thanks :goodvibes Hope you have been well, and are happy in Disney planning!! I keep hoping that my DH and DS will get caught under the spell ... but I can always count on my DISfriends!!

I am also betting that most of us here on The DIS come to talk about Disney because we all have someone be it a BF, DH, or some other person who get tired of our constant talking about Disney and our trip plans. I know my DH does, I usually wait for the last posible moment to bring something up cause I am waiting for the best timing to do so

I would seriously think about that Mom and Me trip it is something I wish I had done while my mom was still alive.

Yes, a few years ago, my DD commented that "all the talking about Disney, was getting her "Disney-ed" out!!" So, I cut back. Now I joke around when someone makes a comment about, i.e. a restaurant, I chime in and say, you know Disney has a great Japanese restaurant"! We have to go when we are in Disney next!! We all have a good laugh together :)

I hear you on the Mom/Me trips ... my sis and I were talking for a few years ... finally went to Savannah in April and had a great time. Sorry you didn't have a "trip" together, but am sure you have wonderfull memories of her throughout her life to remember and enjoy.

So now I come here and share in everyone else's excitement and planning, look forward to when my DGD is old enough to go (she will be 3 in September, but would be overwhelmed right now).

I've been getting so excited all of our RCer's trips and about my friend Janet's August plans with her DD and DD's friend, that I've started to bug her about a long weekend in early Dec or even mid Jan 2012. :rolleyes1

You never know ... Christine, you know how thrilled I will be for you when you can see Disney thru Sophia eyes

Now I've done it...my DS8 just saw pics of the pool at CSR. I thought I was concrete on POFQ but he is now begging to stay at CSR. It would be kinda neat to stay somewhere new but POFQ has been refurb. Here we go again!:yay:

I'm torn as well between these two mods!!

Just 'cause it wasn't for me doesn't mean it isn't for anyone else! ;)

Plus, after the last trip I've decided that mods aren't for me either. I like either deluxe or values. Go figure. ;)

What are your dates in August? We'll be there the 21st through the 29th, and I'm planning on meeting up with pas130, CRRFFL, and hopefully you! :cool1:

Karen: Tentatively I will be there from 8/16 to 8/22 so am excited that maybe this year we can hook up! When I firm the trip up, let's figure out where/when we can meet!

hey I don't even know WHERE I am staying at the moment!!! (and I don't even have a ressie yet ... committement and me do not go together, but I will this week!! :rotfl:

Hannah, look what I came across on the DIsney site - official word that will make us both happy if we stay at AoA:

Resort Features
With 864 rooms inspired by The Little Mermaid and 1,120 suites designed after The Lion King, Finding Nemo and Cars, you'll feel like you're living in a storybook.
Just outside your colorful accommodations, you'll find imaginative amenities, 3 sparkling swimming pools and 4 playful courtyards—one for each film—to complete your Resort experience

Thank goodness, the rooms are not Nemo :thumbsup2...but still wish they would have spread the regular rooms throughout the resort. Oh, well. ::yes::

Monday greetings, RCer's!! :goodvibes

Hi all,

I know a lot of us are on board for late August. If anyone wants the following ressie, let me know and we can time my cancellation. I also just posted on "August 2011 CANCELLED ADR Thread - Read 1st Post":

Yachtsman Steakhouse
Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Date: Tuesday, August 23, 2011
Time: 7:15 p.m.
Party Size: 4 Guests

We're doing O'Hana instead. Call me a sucker for dried out meat on skewers, but Poly Mama shaking her hula hips is a MUST for us at least once each year!!! Good times with DH, DN & DN and Poly Mama squeezes can't be beat! Too much fun. :dance3:

We're down to 94 days!!!! I bought Lily most of her wardrobe for the trip yesterday because Babies R Us had a good sale on stuff and I need to buy 2 sizes ahead for it. We got a ton of little dresses for the princess. I just need to find a special outfit for her meeting with Cindy at out CRT breakfast. It has to be something in a light blue to match Cindy. :) I found a kind of cute outfit but it was a little ehh for the special occasion. I still have a few months.

I havent switched in 4 months! Who have I become?! :confused3
I love that Lilyana has a WDW "wardrobe":thumbsup2. Can you get the little Cindy outfit online to match big Cindy? :idea:Then you can use the outfit for Halloween.

I've noticed that once the Poly is thrown into the mix, no one seems to change anymore:scratchin. Well, I changed once, but changed back a few days later:rolleyes1

Yep, that's all it takes. A photo of salmon at Artist's Point at the WL was about all it took to make me switch back. It made me remember how much DH loves salmon and the Lodge, and well, I was a goner.

That's sounds sweet. What a nice thing to take the girls to NYC. How old are they?

Monday greetings, RCer's!! :goodvibes

 How is Gracie doing?

pas130: Now that school is out, are the troops getting excited about their FL trip?

Kaffinito: I think you booked the GF cabana, right? Did the IPO contact you or did you have to contact them first?

stepdisney: When was the last change? I've lost track. Now that school is out, you have a lot more time to plan:).

Hannah: How have you and Gramma been? I feel like she's a part of our RC family:goodvibes.

Have any of you RCs ever eaten at the Akershus (Norway) character meal? We used to love eating there before it was characters 24/7 so I'm nervous about going back and being disappointed that the food is so different. The dinner seems to be closest to what they used to serve on the buffet. Is it served family style or is it still a buffet? We've done all the character meals at the MK and Epcot (except Akershus) and all the resorts except BC.

I feel like I'd be paying a "princess premium" when all we really want is the delicious Norwegian food they used to serve. DD wants nothing to do with the princesses, but DH is all for it:laughing:, oh and he likes the food, too;)

ETA: Just looked over some Akershus reviews and it seems like a crazy, loud place now. That's too bad. I think I'd prefer going back to Garden Grill with Chip & Dale or Chef Mickey's before we'd do Akershus, and it's around $15 less PP. And, yes, it is family style now. Why do they have to have 3 character meals/day there? I know, it's profitable. But three a day? Yeesh.

Hi WDWKOOK!!
My DD is 13 (a newly turned teenager - June 5) and her BFF Carlie, who is 12 but soon to be teenager in September :)

We had so much fun ... it was weird, I was looking for HP stuff on line and came up with this exhibit info ... never heard anything about it before, and assume it's been touring since last year ... NYC is the last stop before going abroad. Took some cute pix, will try and post a pix tomorrow.

In answer to your Akershus question, nope, never been there. My DD would probably say no to the princesses now too :sad2: But if you and DH want to go, go!! DD will have to go along if she wants to eat :)

Lucky you getting an Ohana ressie - one of my fav places to eat!! Congrats!

Just noticed you updated your post -- we ate at GG in 2006 and really enjoyed it! And love Chef Mickeys!!
Janet

Wow, Janet your DD really is a "fresh" (as in new) 13-year-old:bday: to her. My DD will be 13 in October and in the 8th grade:scared1:. I can't believe that high school is just a year away:sad2:.

OK, you've stumped me, how did you know I booked 'Ohana:confused3

Yeah for double digets !!! Wow 94 days you will be in Disney in no time.

It must be so much fun buy for Lily, I had 2 boys

It's fun but expensive!

Lily is going to be the hit of CRT Breakfast!! Hope we get to see some pics. :goodvibes

You haven't switched in 2 mos b/c you don't have enough time in a day!! ;) Or just maybe all your hard work helped everything fall into place and you know it's perfect.:thumbsup2

Awww thanks! You will see lots and lots of pics.

I love that Lilyana has a WDW "wardrobe":thumbsup2. Can you get the little Cindy outfit online to match big Cindy? :idea:Then you can use the outfit for Halloween.

Poly is just a magical choice! I'm so excited to take my parents there. They don't make the Cindy outfit Lily sized  they only make a Minnie outfit in her size. This better change closer to Halloween! I might just go back for the other outfit in case. You know, I really don't like the costumes these days. They used to be much higher quality. Now they're so flimsy and cheesy. :sad2:

I guess I got lucky, I just checked and the entire call only took 7mins 28sec :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I KNEW IT! You were doing an awful lot of prowling around on the GF thread and when those lounge photos and menu descriptions got posted and you were asking about 1st floor rooms, etc... I said to myself, "When will Karen be changing her ticker?"

You've stayed RPC before, but never SL, right? I'm really happy for you. I expect a thorough GF/SL TR!

:rotfl: You have me pegged! :rotfl2: I couldn't help it. :guilty: It might be my last trip for two whole years so I want to make the most of it. :goodvibes

Congrats on all the changes! I'm sitting at my desk running numbers for my trip as I like to do because of my OCD. I love to see at the end of my long equation that everything is within budget. I need to get serious about my surveys! I started to slack after Lily was born but I'm getting back in the game.

I do that too! :goodvibes I love adding up all of the numbers to make sure I'm still within budget. :cool1:

I might get that GF cabana, but I haven't called IPO yet to do it. ;)

Anywhooo. I have finalized my vacation plans (I think)
3 nights at RPR and 5 nights at Yacht club. I keep going back and forth about BC and YC. I really need someone to tell me which one is best. I think that YC means that you definitely get a large balcony and BC you may not. Which one is closer to walking to Epcot and the SAB pool and which one is closer to the boat dock and Boardwalk? I've been out of the loop for so long but now that school is officially OVER, all grades are in, and I have my assignment for next year and all of the teaching materials including pacing guide for 7th grade (I love 7th grade), I'm ready to look over my vacation and....make some changes....maybe....: I feel a case of changeritis coming on.

Missed you!

Easy peasy for the BC/YC question. BC is closer a bit to SAB and is closer to EPCOT. YC is closer to the boat dock, and both are about as close to the Boardwalk with the edge going to BC. With YC you do get a full balcony, and with BC you might not. :) (I've had both of those booked a few times now ;))

I am so glad that school is out and you're back with us now! :cool1:

Queen beds, queen beds, queens beds...just trying to convince myself not to change to Pop from POFQ!

POFQ = boat to DTD, beignets, queen beds, recent refurb, no shared buses and only one bus stop. :teeth:

Okay Miss Missy, when did you decide this?

I've missed you guys. I have been missing in action for a bit with final exams, graduation, final grades, cleaning out my classroom, moving to my new school, gathering materials for next year's 7th grade class and, FINALLY, booking airfare, dining, debating how many days at US/IOA and Disney and, YES considering BC vs. YC.

At LAST I have allowed myself to get excited about finally staying at BC....or YC. Right now I am booked at the YC but today I checked and BC seems to be closer to Epcot. I want to make sure that I have a room with a daybed.

At this point, there are no other decisions to make except YC or BC.... I have until July 2nd to make up my mind......Almost changed to BC this morning......I need to change SOMETHING.....I'm off to the dining pages....

I vote for YC. Better lobby (IMO) nicer lodgings, guaranteed balcony, and better interior color scheme. :rolleyes1

Did that help? :rotfl2:

I just got started here on this thread recently and I was up to date on the board posts. This past week found me so sick with some virus and fever of 103 (and you can imagine the rest).

Our Epcot Le Cellier ADR is only for 2 ppl so it may be kaput. Need to check on available ADRs for 3 ppl and see what looks tasty.

DON"T LET IT GO!!!! You can make an ADR for 2 a lot easier than you can for 3! Just keep the ADR, show up a little early for it, say 15 minutes, and then let them know the ressie would have been for 3 not 2. With the reservation system in chaos anyway, a lot of folks are booking for the wrong party size. I've had to do it a time or two when I've made an "oopsie"

Okay.....are we planning the first ever resort changers meet? When are we all going to be there....(the hardest part is figuring out where to meet without "CHANGING" our minds.... Let me know what's good for everyone. A lot of us will be there later in August. We are scheduled for Aug. 15 - 23. Let me know!!

August 21 - 29 for us!

I love that Lilyana has a WDW "wardrobe":thumbsup2. Can you get the little Cindy outfit online to match big Cindy? :idea:Then you can use the outfit for Halloween.

I've noticed that once the Poly is thrown into the mix, no one seems to change anymore. Well, I changed once, but changed back a few days later

I've noticed that too. although I had to let it go myself last trip. :sad2:

We ate there for lunch a few trips ago and I would go back. :thumbsup2 The food there is quite good, and I enjoyed lunch knowing that I wasn't paying the higher dinner price. ;) I didn't think it was loud either. :confused3 I certainly wasn't as loud as WCC or Ohana's, but not as quiet as V&A's either. I'd say the noise level was on par with a regular family restaurant.

I haven't booked the cabana yet, but hopefully will tomorrow. I have to remember to do it!

Sorry it has been so long. I have been a busy bee! So I texted DBF while I was at work and told him if we could go to WDW next year and make it a super cheap trip, we can do his bike trek through Europe for our honeymoon since he's always wanted to do that. As long as we hit up Disneyland Paris for a day or two! He said maybe and that it's something to discuss for sure. So I may get my way after all! LOL

@Minnie&Nana: I'm so glad that the standard rooms are LM!!! I will have to switch there if the rooms become available soon!

I missed all my friends here. I hope there have been some changes! :grouphug: I have been doing well. Been busy working. I had my "niece's" birthday party yesterday. She turned one on Friday. She is such a cutie! I think she's really starting to like me. She doesn't really like guys, but she loves DBF! She got a trampoline from one of her dad's parents. She can't really jump, but she loved pressing her face against the netting and when we would push down on the trampoline so she would start bouncing up and down. It was so much fun.

DBF and I went to my grandparents' house for Father's Day and Grampa's Birthday (His birthday was also on Friday) yesterday after the party and my family enjoyed seeing DBF. They seem to like him so I'm glad he will most likely be accepted into the family if we were to get married. :) They spoil him so much. He got a case of beer that only comes out once a year for real cheap from my Uncle (he is the owner of one of our family's grocery stores and they get beer from the company that makes the beer he asked for so my uncle was able to put in an order for him) and my grampa gives us Cubs tickets since he is a season ticket holder so we all get to go for free. My boyfriend is a Cubs fan (BOO!) so he's lucky. We went to the Yankees-Cubs game last night as well. Which I was surprised we even got those tickets since I figured someone else would have gotten them since we doesn't always get what we ask for. So, my boyfriend is spoiled. He is going to be spoiled rotten by my dad's family. :rotfl: He is lucky that he is dating me. We joke that the only reason he is dating me is to get free Cubs tickets. :lmao:

Anyways, I'm hoping DBF and I can talk about the trip next year to see how long we want to stay so I can call Disney and let them know about the changes. I want to change something!

Multi-quote Monday is right!!! I lost count of the posts I wanted to quote. :goodvibes

@Disneydreamin' we are now booked at YC....I think... BUT today my DS called me and they ARE making it to the world :yay: I am sooo happy. They are not staying on site, however :scared1:. They are military so I we were trying to convince them to take advantage of the great discounts :sad2:. I'm just grateful that they are making their 1st Disney trip. I thought I scared them away with all of the "Options" I gave them. :rotfl2: I sneaked a peek at the Poly site and thought "OMG, we could stay here, next to the TTC and get to Epcot quickly....." :scared1:

@ Kaffinito: I missed you too! You know I'm your biggest fan :cheer2:. When are you planning to meet? If you make it the 21 - 23, I'm THERE!!! :cool1:

Well, I'm your biggest fan too! You are, after all, The Queen :worship: :teeth:

I will be flexible with any meets this year, and put them first. :thumbsup2 Last year I missed JanetB due to cell phone problems, but at least was able to meet CRRFFL at BWI, so I'm going to be super flexible this year. Meets are going to be my #1. :goodvibes

I'm just glad I'm going to get to meet most of you finally! :dance3:

My DD is going into 8th grade too ... can't believe how fast her first year in middle school went by. It seems not so long ago, she was my little girl, lovin' the princesses ....

I do that too! :goodvibes I love adding up all of the numbers to make sure I'm still within budget. :cool1:

I haven't booked the cabana yet, but hopefully will tomorrow. I have to remember to do it!

Glad I'm not the only one! Numbers and counting is the serious part of my OCD. I memorize social security and account numbers at work all the time. This is probably sad, but it's become normal to me that I'm constantly saying numbers in my head.

I may just rent myself a GF cabana as well! Depends how much survey money I rack up by our trip. Right now I've got over $400 banked in my QR account. I LOVE free money!!! Seriously, getting paid to do surveys while I watch TV or pump at night is amazing. I don't have to worry about saving up for our spending money. :cool1:

That was a great compromise you came up with! You are a better woman than I because I would not be willing to make a sacrifice like that. I want my Mickey and I want him NOW! :rotfl2:

Not staying onsite?! :scared1: My whole family has an offsite love affair. I only started staying onsite when I started bringing DS on my own because A) I dont drive and B) I always wanted to stay on Disney property and since I was doing the planning I was free to do things my way. Well, my mom hasn't even been yet and she already loves staying on property (especially since I let her pick GF ;) I know how to hook em!)

I say pick Poly! Unless you're truly happy with YC. In that case have a blast there!

:rotfl: WDWKOOK, I got lucky on the Ohana guess!! I messed up with you and Magic...itis (who stated she was going to Ohanas!) That's what I get for flipping between screens, trying to multi-quote when I supposed to be working!!

My DD is going into 8th grade too ... can't believe how fast her first year in middle school went by. It seems not so long ago, she was my little girl, lovin' the princesses ....

Don't say that! My little Lily is already 3 months old and I'm already crying over her growing too quickly. I feel like just yesterday DS was 3 months old and now he's 7. Where does the time go?!

That was a great compromise you came up with! You are a better woman than I because I would not be willing to make a sacrifice like that. I want my Mickey and I want him NOW! :rotfl2:

I don't want to make the sacrifice, but if it gets him (and by him, I mean me) to WDW next year, then I will do it! But of course, I will get my disney fix if we go to Europe. There's no way I'm going to Europe without going to Disneyland Paris. :rotfl: We may not go to WDW for the honeymoon, but I will be able to at least get my fix by going to DLP for a day or two. There was a reason behind going the Europe route. I'm so sneaky. :lmao:

:wave2: Hello everyone! Just wanted to say hi! WDWkook invited me over to this thread....guess she realized after reading my recent TR, that I have some serious issues with 'Resort Changing' Not sure if my disease is curable, though....each time I've made a resort ressie, it's been changed, modified, upgraded...you name it:scared1:

Kaffinito,, after reading your recent TR, I've been tempted to stay at Port Orleans for our short trip in February....I'm sure it will change:rolleyes1. By the way, Kaffinito, we had an incredible evening at V&A...thanks for all the great tips!!!

So happy to be a part of a :grouphug: with issues! Thanks WDWkook;)

Happy Tuesday!
Heather

I will be flexible with any meets this year, and put them first. :thumbsup2 Last year I missed JanetB due to cell phone problems, but at least was able to meet CRRFFL at BWI, so I'm going to be super flexible this year. Meets are going to be my #1. :goodvibes

I'm just glad I'm going to get to meet most of you finally! :dance3:

Yes!! I know we only overlap a day or two, but let's figure out a plan. (I may be going back on 8/23. :yay:) Maybe all the RC'ers can have a group DISmeet? Note to Karen: Bring your cell phone charger!! :)

Yeah Hannah! You will do well in marriage. The trick is to let them THINK they have the upper hand and that they make the decisions ... when we know better :goodvibes We are, as you say, a little sneaky and devious. It's an art form, really! :rotfl:

From one newbie to another ...:welcome: Heather!! Glad you came over! This is a great group :)

I had been wondering where you were Hannah. You were definately a very busy girl. Glad your plans seem to be coming together for your trip next year and your HoneyMoon.

LOL @ sneaky. DH and I have discussed doing the Disney Mediterrian Cruise out of Barcelona but I have already told him either before or after we are going to DisneyLand Paris for a couple of days.

Welcome to the group Heather!

DH says I am always schemeing something up , I call it planning ahead :rotfl:

Like the year we went to Vegas for my DS's wedding, I convinced DH since we would be so close to the west coast we should go to DisneyLand after Vegas, which he fell for hook, line and sinker. :lmao:

What kind of crazy Disney forum doesn't change resorts.....:confused3:goodvibes

I'm thinking I like the Beignet idea. This may be ME this year....Thanks for letting me know exactly how to plan my escape. I can hear my DH now "She was just here at DisneyQuest a minute ago.....::rotfl:

If my DH had his way, this would be our last trip to The World for a while. We may need to plan a RC getaway for those of us who need our Disney fix.

:yay: Glad to hear that Gracie and Jackie are doing well this week.

I am glad Gracie had a better week too. Yes RC trip A MUST:cool1: I will be in Fla. Aug 22-Sep 1st. We'll be on the Gulf Coast til 25th when we go to Universal...but we'll have a car so I will totally :cool1:travel to meet my RC girls:goodvibes

Not sneaky...creative:lmao:

To all my RC friends :wave2: Missed you all. Worked way too much....I am sooooooooooooo tired. I feel like I've missed so much. Now with all the kiddos home, NO :surfweb: time for mom...DS 5 had to get glasses yesterday, so that's 2 Princesses in glasses now (3 if I count) but another chunk of money from vacation fund, so yet another shift mom needs to work. It's OK though Katie got the cutest frames. :lovestruc

To Heather and Janet :welcome:

Back to the kiddos, I will try to catch up later.....

 Sorry you're working so much. I know what you mean about chunks of vacation funds going elsewhere. DS was up with a toothache last night so that means a pretty penny will be going to the dentist today. :sad2:
