Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Thank you - it's all your fault I booked the Poly to begin with. Heck I was even looking at the Honeymoon suites - for the king bed and the jacuzzi until I cam e to my senses.

I'm still jealous though - the Princess Suite does look quite lovely, you do get CL in the Hawaii building, and it's a great location with a Castle view.

(Plus, you can take lots of pics of the room and the view and then post them back here, right? )

Well its disneydreamin247's fault I started thinking about the Poly again. I booked my first trip in 2000, then switched to All Stars because my DH freaked when he saw how much$$$ I spent (early days as a switcher I suppose) It was the original room I booked for this August too I will TOTALLY take lots of pics, no worries. Can't wait to hear about the Cabanas from your trip

2 months is a long time to go without switching! Congrats on the switch - I'm sure you'll like it! (But why not give BWI deluxe a try? )

The ones at GF look really nice and plush - just like the ones at Poly, they look like the same model cabana - but the one at GF is a lighter color scheme. They're at the opposite end of the pool from the zero entry - probably so they wouldn't block anyone's view from there.

The CM who changed my reservation yesterday let me in on a secret. I was always under the impression that online inventory was what was actually available. He said that actually, they do hold some rooms from the online inventory so that people will call them. I had also been told in the past that inventory for rooms with discounts, such as GP or military are fixed and when they run out of rooms, inventory isn't ever replaced - not so. He said that Disney will release more rooms IF they are undersold in a particular category and want to fill more rooms.

So don't give up!

He said that actually, they do hold some rooms from the online inventory so that people will call them. I had also been told in the past that inventory for rooms with discounts, such as GP or military are fixed and when they run out of rooms, inventory isn't ever replaced - not so. He said that Disney will release more rooms IF they are undersold in a particular category and want to fill more rooms.

I have a hard time beliving that and this is why. A few years ago when we called the Disney Reservations Center to ask for another confirmation to be e-mailed since we never got it, we also mentioned not being able to see it online. Well the Cast Member said they were going to stop letting people view their reservations online. Obviously that never happened and ever since then it's hard to know when they are telling the truth.

Plus this past December when we made our original room only reservation without any discounts we had asked if the AAA/CAA rates for 2011 had been released, because we would have taken them at that time. Well the Cast Member said they weren't released yet. Then once we got home from WDW I checked Mousesavers and saw that those rates for 2011 were released back in August 2010, so that Cast Member was wrong.

It's to bad that didn't happen for us in February 2007. During that month we were trying to make our December 2007 reservations and when I checked online the Atrium Club was sold out for our dates. So when my Dad called the Cast Member on the phone also said it was sold out, then we picked the Tower - Bay Lake View. However it was a few hours later when we decided to try Club Level at the Polynesian. While I was happy we did that eventually we did end up missing the Contemporary, so had the Atrium Club been avaiable from the start we would have never stayed at the Polynesian.

That's pretty interesting! I am definitely going to keep calling. Just once it gets close to that 45 day mark, I will be calling every day so I don't miss out on a CR room.
