Riveria has lots of rooms as about 70% is still not declared. Both AKV Jambo House and Wilderness Lodge..CCV...has DVC in them and will be open sl regular hotel rooms would be an option I would think.

Also, Disney can take DVC inventory not reserved 60 days out, regardless of points, so as of today...they can snag as many July dates as they want,

And, nothing is to say that Disney isn’t considering this for anything more than the short term.

I could see them doing it for a few weeks to get the kinks worked out as all initial guests are centrally located, and then slowly open up other resorts,

The WDW site does mention resort closures could be in place in phased openings. So, it does seem like a logical and feasible thing to do as they work to get back up to full speed.

That’s interesting that both your friends were moved to AKL. I wonder if they were moved to the DVC Jambo or the lodge? A friend of mine who has DVC indicated that Jambo house is showing to be almost completely unavailable from July 11- end of August. (But not Kidani). Interesting.

Since that resort is open because it does have DVC, it would certainly open up the regular resort rooms as option.

Cash side is like two or three percent of rooms at most and DVC is pretty much fully booked every day of the year. I just don’t see how this would be possible, as owners have booked up almost every room in the system already and two percent of that does not even begin to cover the number of rooms they would need in order to shift people over from Values. They can’t block off owners from booking up to the day before the vacation would start, so they can not anticipate having more rooms than are allotted to them via breakage, etc.

DIsney can take at 60 days out though and can anticipate too. But I posted places like RIV, AKL Jambo and Wilderness Lodge with CCV are DVC resorts, but with lots of rooms that aren’t DVC points bookable.

For a short term plan...and again, since I’m the one that shared, I always said it could change..it makes sense!

I hope it works out or you. The big rumor is that the NBA will be taking over CSR for their "bubble" the end of July. I think they are releasing information next week once all the votes and agreements happen.

We have a DVC stay at BCV from July 22-25 and then we move to ASMo from July 25-29. It sounds like we may get moved from ASMo. Are the only options DVC or is Ft Wildness an option too? We are a family of 6 so I'm afraid they'd try to put us in a cabin. I would not want that and would probably cancel that part of the stay. We have two rooms booked at Movies cause we wanted the queen beds and 2 bathrooms. The cabins would be a downgrade, imo. I'm fine with any of the dvc's but I read Ft Wilderness was opening too.

In terms of rumors (as it's only rumors as of now!), CSR seems to be the front runner as the one and only resort the NBA would use. They will most likely only have 20 to 22 teams participating at WDW, so with players, plus coaches, training staff, media, etc. they would have more than enough room at CSR (with over 2400 rooms) to accommodate everyone. Hopefully we'll get more info next week at some point.

If you have two rooms booked at ASMo they will give you two rooms wherever they move you. They aren't going to consolidate your two rooms into one. How did you book the two rooms - are they under one reservation number? Did you note "travel with" on the two rooms so they know your family is one group with two rooms? If your reservations are not already linked in some way, when the reservation system opens up again, I would call and have that noted on the reservations. The last thing you want them to do is move one room to one resort and the other room to another resort.

We've not always gotten connecting as a request and, in fact, last Aug, we were placed in two rooms at POR that were on different floors and on different sides of same bldg. It was such a pain as all our clothes were packed together. So, we were constantly running back and forth. I can't imagine being put at different resorts!!

I would call WDW and have them note "travel with" on the reservations. That way, they will be able to see you are traveling as one party although you have two rooms and two separate reservation numbers. Biggest issue there is double beds. Not exactly ideal for generally tall NBA players.

The only other resort that makes any logical sense is Port Orleans. They can’t be near a DVC, 60% of the All Star rooms still have double beds, Disney won’t want to give up a skyliner resort because it means they have to run that many more socially distanced buses, and Yacht Club is too small.

Rumors from very well sourced people have them at CSR. We will almost certainly know by Friday.

I understood that there was a requirement that a certain percentage of DVC rooms was always to be available for Disney to book on cash. So they could certainly move people up to that capacity I would think.

It’s less a requirement and more that Disney just maintains a share of ownership points, about 3%, most of which Disney has likely already booked guests into for cash. As @Sandisw pointed out, Disney can swipe additional unbooked rooms at 60 days out (or use computer modeling to project the % of unbooked rooms, although their computer models are probably worth nothing in this pandemic world); that availability is often pretty limited at the villas attached to Deluxe resorts.

I am skeptical that Disney will find more than a couple hundred rooms per night to reaccommodate guests into. There’s more all star rooms than there are DVC rooms.

Seems to be a lot of confusion, but it’s pretty much a given that if they have to open the Dvc side , they will open the entire resort. The cash side of the resort would need to be filled in with those value and moderate hotels that will be closed. I don’t think anyone is taking DVC inventory unless that inventory is not going to be used.

One friend had a reservation changed from CBR to AKL in 2018. The POP to AKL change was mid-February 2020.

Was trying to relay the fact that they were not asked where they wanted to stay, but they did not ask when presented an option. I definitely could see without any background how some thought it was due to the current situation.

I am guessing DVC can utilize the Riviera Resort because they have not declared the entire resort yet for Member bookings... that leaves the majority of the resort available for Disney discretion.

FW would be an option, IF they upgrade at all. But in your case, you have 2 rooms, you’d get two rooms, most likely studios and most likely SSR or OKW. When upgrading, they generally move less expensive resorts to less expensive resorts and equal room configurations.
