Resort Change by Disney

Question: For those who have already modified from a closed resort to an open open, and made no other changes, were you all transferred to Guest Services or did the first CM you spoke to make the changes for you?

I'm wondering if this is part of the cost/no cost puzzle...

Yes, first ticketing said they would have to charge extra to move us from CBR because no other moderates were open. I asked to take anything with no charge and she transferred me to guest services 40 minutes ago. Still on hold. Fingers crossed.
 
I got through after about 2 hours on hold. Yes - they're charging the price difference to move resorts. However, if you had an offer (ex. I had Sun & Fun), they'll apply that to the new resort reservation. Since my original reservation was for a AKL Jambo House cash stay in August, the CM wanted to keep me in the Deluxe category and presented me with the Contemporary but it was more money. I just got moved to Jambo DVC and actually saved money.
We have the exact same situation. We're in AKL in August with sun & fun. Hoping to move to DVC there...
 
On a side note, if anyone gets through, can you ask what a direct number is to guest services. I am nervous with 40 minutes still waiting with no hold music that nobdy will pick up and I have no callback number for them. Dont want to do the past 3.5 hours again.

Yep, was told that maybe guest services had some "extra pixie dust".

I'm thinking Guest Services is the key here. Likely Disney is hoping guests will be willing to pay the different to change to an open resort. But they are likely willing to move you for free if you're not willing.

For anyone that is told they have to pay the difference by the first CM, I'd ask to speak to Guest Services and tell them others have been moved at no cost and you expect the same (but nicely...).
 
I was on hold about an hour. First CM was not very knowledgeable, but she transferred me to guest services since we had a recovery package from free dining.
Guest Services was able to move my Aug. 3 to 5 ASSp reservation to a preferred room at POP, no extra charge. My rate was the same.
For my August 10 to 15th, he moved us from a LM room at AOA to preferred room at POP, and he was able to get a price decrease for that package.
So I got the 35% rate off of both reservations. They did not make me pay more for move from ASSp to POP even though the rate was higher.
I asked about taking one day off of our reservation, and he said that if I modified that way, I would lose the rate.
