I am currently planning our first trip to Disney for May 09. We are planning on staying in a moderate resort, and I am having anxiety over choosing the "right" one! I want this to be a perfect vacation for my family (Me, DH,DD21,DD9,and DD2) It is so overwhelming and I am scared I'll chose a resort that isn't as nice as the others or isn't as fun. I know that I am crazy, but since I am the one planning the trip I feel alot of pressure! Did I mention that my sister and s-mom will also be joining us? They say just book them wherever we stay and it will be fine but I want to make sure they have an awesome time too! ARRGGHHH!!! Thanks in advance to take the time to read the rantings of a crazy Disney planning mom!

All of the Disney resorts are fun and exciting. Maybe have someone sit with you while you look at all the different resort FAQ threads, and give you their opinion. Maybe your sister or s-mom would like to look at all the resorts websites at the official WDW site? Don't over pressure yourself!!! No matter what it will be great, and the planning is the most fun!

I thought I would have a hard time choosing last year (I hadn't been since I was little) but once I watched the Disney DVD that I ordered and they showed all the resorts, I knew right away which one I would LOVE and we are going again to teh same resort in 19 days.....yippie!!!!!!
I just loved the POLY because it is 100% us!!!!!!
Just go with your gut instincts and remember YOU make YOUR vacation, not where you are staying!

I agree...where ever you stay it will be great. Everyone has different tastes so I would do like the above mentioned have someone (or everyone sit with you and check out all the Mods). We stayed at the CBR and it was nice but we honestly enjoyed POP more(not that we didn't enjoy CBR)...this time we will be at PORFQ...we want to keep trying something new because every one is unique but they are ALL wonderful!! Good luck!!

I spent so much time deciding what resort my kids would love for our last trip to WDW in November. I choose The Poly because of the volcano pool, location, and the resorts tropical theme..we travel with the kids into the caribbean often and I thought they would enjoy that aspect of the hotel, as well.

Well, I was sooo wrong. My kids were enamored with the CR! Everytime we went through that resort on the monorail they got so excited! My kids are 9, 7 and 6. We got off and walked around...they loved it even more..I thought they wouldn't like the non-themed pool..wrong, as long as a pool has a slide they could care less about it being shaped like a volcano. I thought they would like the tropical setting of the Poly better..wrong, I do not even think they noticed . I thought the location was better at The Poly..but I agree with CRresort4life..the location of the CR is ideal!

So I guess the moral of this story is the place that we pick might not be what are kids pick. Show them the different moderate resorts and let them have a say..this way it is not all on your shoulders ;)

We have stayed at several places and the Poly is my fave! The boys loved all the different resorts. They are staying with their Grandparents at the WL this June. And we are surprising them with a New Years Eve trip this year. I thought they would want to stay at the CR or the Poly, but they picked the CSR! The pyramid pool looked cool to them! (I tricked them into thinking it was for the June trip) My mom is also coming with, so we got a Jr Suite for the week. With that many people (7, right?) You will need 2 rooms or a suite. All the resorts have their own flavor, so just go with what is most important to you-pool-location-themes and you will be happy.

After examining all the pros and cons, all the differences between all the mods, reading all the reviews, looking at all the pictures -- pull out the old WDW dart board and pick one at random!

If your youngest will be turning three before your trip it will reduce the number of options so that might be something to think about before getting your heart set on a particular resort.

But.... I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the WDW resorts!

How many people will be staying in your room? You show five in your immediate family. Will all of you stay in one room? If so, will your 2 year old sleep in a Pak-N-Play? Keep in mind that the only moderate with standard rooms that accommodate 5 (excluding under 3 in Pak-N-Play) is Alligator Bayou at POR.

Otherwise, the three moderate resorts are your oyster! :)

You pretty much have to establish a criteria; price, location, theming etc. There are so many resorts at Disney these days you really need to "weed" them out. My gosh there's soooo much info on the internet these days from price to pics to reviews, imagine what it was like pre-internet, pick and hope for the best. The thing about the DIS is you'll get as much info and input as you desire, trust me, just ask.

As long as you are planning to get 2 rooms, I would opt for POFQ. It will be perfect for your younger children, as far as size, the pools, the playground.

And your older child and the adults will have DTD just a boatride away. Also you have access to all the ammenities at POR. There's no way anyone could get bored at FQ with so much easily accessible.

Take a look around, then tell us some of your favorites and we will talk you thought it. Don't worry we will help you!!

My youngest will turn 3 on the day we leave to come back home! My 9 year old will stay with my sis and s-mom. It's like a big sleepover for her and my other 2 will stay w dad and me.

I really love the looks of both Port Orleans Resorts and I also love the look of the Carribean Beach. It really comes down to those three for me! I love the idea of taking the boat to Downtown Disney, but I also love the tropical feel of CBR. I have heard the CSR will be having their rooms remodeled dring the time of our visit so that resort is pretty much out for me! so that narrows my choices to three. I really spend alot of my time going back and forth, thinking of benifits to each resorts i find it hard to settle on one!

When my kids were smaller we would head over to PORFQ. The kids love the pool slide there. We had friends stay at CB and they complained how spread out it is and how far to a pool or bus stop. Good luck in choosing, you can't go wrong anywhere in WDW you stay.

Your a smart mama! I was just thinking you'll need to split up a few of the gang to cut down on your limitations of which resort you might want to pick.
Your already becoming a Disney Mom planning pro!
Just keep posting and asking here the information you need, research, and look at reviews and you'll soon find out that your going to find the exact one you want.
AllEarsNet.COM is a great place to look at reviews, it's my stand by when I want to look up menus for places to eat and it was the final place that helped me to decide on what resort I would be happy with. :worship: I knew we could do value or moderate and I wanted some place that was fairly new and not on the slightly run down side, (I know WDW takes good care of the resorts, but things like renovations, matteresses, and wear and tear where important to me)cleanliness was very important to me, so looking at the moderates and the values I knew exactly which I wanted to pick because of the reviews. :woohoo:

We ended up staying at the Pop because relaxing at the resort other than the occasional swim and the occasional meal on the fly wasn't what we needed, this was our first trip so we knew almost all our time was going to be in the parks. So all we really needed was a place to put our heads and shower, it just didn't seem like it was such a good idea to pay more money to be someplace that was a little nicer to look at when that's not what we were going to be there for.

Now that being said, as we take more trips to WDW and the parks aren't the ONLY important part of the trip, we will reconsider our plans as to what resort we end up picking.
My dream resort would be The Poly or Grand Floridian :cloud9:, ever since I've seen pictures that's where I would like to spend my time, but that probably won't be for many, many more years from now. :sad2:

Figure out what your needs are, find out what others think of what your thinking (I wouldn't have everyone look at all of this, you would have to many opinions and that could make things even worse) :scared: and then factor all of those things in and you'll know!

Does this mean you'll want to celebrate her birthday while there? I know this is OOP (off original post) but wanted to extend help if your thinking of ideas for celebrating your baby girls big day.:lovestruc

This is THE place to find out what your looking for, you'll get a lot of help on these boards, just keep posting your threads and you'll get what you need.

From what I have read, POFQ is your best shot. It is small, compact, easier to negotiate than most resorts. Not two tons of walking. Great pool and food court. I hope that you folks are planning on two rooms side by side. You will be more comfy. Good luck with your planning.:goodvibes

We probably will want to have a birthday celebration there as well as when we get home (so the grandparents can be there) Any ideas you have for that would be greatly appreciated!
