Resident question

Hi,
I'm having my sister-in-law meet me in September at WDW for a couple of days. She is a FL resident but I am paying for the room and as she will arrive late, I would want to check in before she gets there. Could I get the FL resident rate if I make the ressie under her name even if I'm paying?

She would have to be with you when you check in as they check your Florida ID.

We were at WL in July. Everyone in the room has to be a Florida resident. They checked all ID's.

Floridacat, you are not correct. The only one who has to be a Florida Resident is the one who has the reservation. When I have checked in, I have been the ONLY ONE to show my ID because the reservation was in my name.

Miss Jasmine is correct. I take my sister with me all the time in my room and she is from NC. The reservation is in my name though, so she could not check in for me. They do ask for ID when checking in. I have never been asked to show my AP though.

You do have to show your FL id at check-in. They check the id of the person whose name the ressie is under. Is there any way she can be there at check-in time? It would save you quite a bit of $$.

p.s. a funny thing happened to me last week...I received a letter from disney parks and resorts reservation center telling me they might be missing some important info on our reservation. I have NEVER received one of these before. I had to either send this form back or e-mail the info. I don't know what this was all about and I thought it was silly. Maybe this has something to do with the FL res.?? All they wanted was my name, my husbands name and date of last visit. They already had our names and address???? It has to be something new because we have been going for years and have always been Florida residents.

They have always asked for my FL ID when I check in on a FL resident discount.

On another note, I once reserved 3 rooms on a FL resident discount, and I was the only FL resident in the group, and there was never any problem. No one had to show ID but me, since the rooms were in my name.

***ETA I'm really crossing my fingers for FL resident discounts next year that as good as the ones they offered this year!! I would love to stay at WL.

I would love if FloridaCat would explain what they meant that all people in the room must have FL IDs... this has never happened to us and if this is a new policy then that would be a serious problem for us... heres hoping for continued FL resident rate in spite of the AP rates vanishing.

ddnak, FloridaCat gave out some misinformation. Don't worry about it, as it is not true. And I think FLA RES rates are good to go as we have them through 10/1 and there are not any AP rates for that same time period (so far).

my fiance called today and they told her "traditionally WDW has offered FL resident discounts for all non-peak periods and I expect them to do so in the future." take it for what it's worth. For the rest of you I feel very bad.

Florida Resident Guidelines

In order to take advantage of the Florida Resident Offers at Walt Disney World you must show proof of Florida Residency:
VALID Florida Drivers License
VALID Florida State issued ID card (MUST have Florida address)
Utility statement with the guest name and address along with a corresponding picture ID
VALID Voters Registration Card with corresponding picture ID
VALID Florida Based Military ID - Florida Military Bases
Pensacola Naval Air Station
Hurlburt Field Air Force Base
Eglin Air Force Base
Tyndall Air Force Base
Panama City Coastal Systems Station (Navy)
Jacksonville Naval Air Station
Mayport Naval Station
MacDill Air Force Base
Patrick Air Force Base
Miami Coast Guard Station
Clearwater Coast Guard Air Station
Homestead Air Reserve Base

Each adult in the party is required to have a Florida ID.

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and can not be purchased for out of state family or friends.

Those are the requirements of buying a FLA RES rate ticket. It is true in that case that all adults do have to show ID. But that isn't the way it is with the resort rooms. The only person who needs a FLA ID is the person holding the reservation. I promise.

Exactly - when it comes to the FL resident hotel rate, only the person in whose name the reservation is made is required to have FL ID.

I Stand Corrected.
Called CRO and CM Stella informed me that a Florida Resident can book up to three rooms in their name for out of state family and friends.
I informed her of my experience at WL in July and she said some CM’s are misinformed and if challenge, ask for the Desk Supervisor and they will clarify it.
