Reserved & obsessed!

Wow, there's a lot of loss in this thread.. GROUP HUG! :grouphug:
Gwen- so sorry to hear about your Daddy.

I feel so blessed that my Daddy will be with us for this trip. In fact- if it weren't for him, we wouldn't be going. Every so often I'll email him with my planning updates since the charges show up on his credit card. His last reply to me was this:

Jennifer, Thanks for investing the time (and my money) into having it be a good trip. Let's not worry too much about the cost, since this should be something very special for two very special boys.

Gotta love Daddies with dollars!! :rotfl:

But I wish my Mamma could come. :\

Aww.. No thanks necessary. How old are your kids?

The oldest is 14, middle will be 12 next month and the youngest is 9, he'll always 3, you know. all boys. Even though I've made this trip hundreds of time, mostly stop at the same places, I still plan this to extremes, forget about the parks, crazy planing too, love it. Drives the kids crazy... they still love it. :thumbsup2

So, I ordered 3 planning books/guides from Amazon last week & they haven't shipped yet & it's driving me NUTS!! COME. ON.:hyper:

Do y'all have any favorite planning books?

We've never had any type planning books, or planning, but we have been going to Disney since it (just MK) and FW opened. Sort of *grew* with WDW so we know it like the back of our hands for the most part.

I can see how it would be overwhelming to those either just starting to go, or haven't been many times. My niece and family just went, and she called me at the advice of my sister to get tips, etc. on going. She found most of the info she needed online.

Enjoy your planning, and most of all your trip! Much pixiedust: to you!

Truthfully, I read planning books more to "vicariously" be with my family in different scenarios at Disney, Or read them to help me pass the waiting time by building happy expectations then actually decide from them....

It is interesting how, despite all negative that could be said for any particular thing, the theme parks can and do function as a sort of heaven on earth for us, when needed, at least, they have for me.

A sibling was in a coma, parents expecting her eminent passing.... And of all things, a Christmas family trip to DL brought us peace and happiness we hadn't felt anywhere else...without the persistent pain... Because of the hope, the happiness, the ideals...even faith in a good future.

Yes, Jennifer, I think it is just great to be crazy happy distracted by this trip to look forward to! Happy dreaming, happy planning!

I hope it works... I'm counting on it.

THANK you, ladies!! :grouphug:

I have dug into the books, and it's clear that I'll get just as much (and more current) info from the boards. :) But I DO enjoy looking through them & highlighting. I've started making lists...

115 days to ADRs!! :rotfl:

TIX ARRIVED TODAY!

(111 days to ADRs!)

Man, this thread is turning out to be my own PTR..
Maybe i should re-title it. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Thank you!! When i showed the tix to husband he said "whoa, we're going for 5 days? I thought we were going for 3?" (says the dude who's never been to Disney). He has no idea what he's in for!!

I have 15 months and 5 days. The longest planning period I've ever set myself up for. First ever trip to the Fort. Sadly, sort of, I guess, this summer's vacation isn't only in the back seat, I think it is in the trunk down where the spare tire lives. Poor 2013 summer vacation, I do feel a little sad I'm neglecting it.

Ah, but this leaves plenty of room for serendipity....you can take advantage of last minute bargains for flights, cruises, etc.
