Reservations for Nick Hotel character breakfast

Sorry, I know this is probably a frequent question, but search isn't working. How far in advance do I need to make reservations for the Nick hotel character meal? We're not going until next May, but I'd like to write a reminder in my planner. Thanks!

I didn't do mine until we got there last year. It was a last minute thing and we had no problem getting in at all. You could call them but I think it is way too far in advance. It is fun and the kids loved it. Enjoy!

Can you go to the character breakfast and pay OOP if you are NOT a guest at Nick Hotel???? Or do you have to be a guest of the hotel?

I called yesterday for our stay next weekend. They had several times up until 8:00, then nothing until much later. This was for a Saturday morning. If you have a big group or want a particular time so you can get to the parks, you might call earlier than I did, but ten days in advance was plenty of time for us.

You have to be staying at the hotel. They asked for my confirmation number when I called to make breakfast reservations.
