Hi all,

Greetings all,

I just completed and returned my contract paperwork last week, and received my confirmation/approval a couple of days ago. According to the confirmation and contract, my documents won't be recorded until ~August 2.

That being the case, I am assuming that I won't be able to make reservations until that date. I was kind of hoping to wait until next month and then make some early December reservations for OKW. Is there any way that I may be able to do this (i.e. cash reservations that can later be converted to points??). If not, considering that my chosen dates are a pretty slow time of year, what might my chances be if I just wait until August to make the reservations?

Thanks,

Chris
(Was it really just 6 weeks ago that I was watching Illuminations?)

If you bought your points direct from DVC, you could have made a reservation almost immediately after giving the deposit.

If you purchased through DVC, I would call MS right away on Monday and try to make the reservation. Early December is a slow period for WDW, but not for DVC. Most of the entire month books up very quickly. DVC members love the first part of December because the decorations and Christmas activities have started, but the points are low. Most members make their reservations for this time of year at the 12 month window. If you call and they are booked, try the waitlist. It will likely come through since you are still 8 months out.

We had reservations before we purchased and converted them to DVC points after purchase. We purchased direct from DVC which allowed them to do this since they were increasing their inventory with our sale.

I've recently purchased 2 resales (from 2 different companies) and booked my resses about 2 weeks after sending in my money. Just call DVC and ask if you are in the system yet. They will ask some specific info to confirm you are really you and give you your membership number.

I know for a fact that you can make reservations if you bought from DVC shortly after making your deposit. We made reservations the day our contract arrived. We hadn't read it, signed it, or returned our final payment and were able to make 2 different reservations.

Ditto, I did the same thing. I had ressies for 2 different trips made as soon as I possibly could.

This is how fast they are at DVC; When we originally purchased we had a reservation for a cash stay from Saturday through Friday night. We signed our papers on Tuesday and from that night on we stayed on points instead of cash for the rest of the week.

If you buy from DVC direct you can make them as soon as they have your deposit, although it's easier to do it when you get your temporary memebership cards which should have some with your paperwork. We actually had completed our first stay on points before our deed was recorded!

Thanks to all for your answers. I did purchase through DVC, so I guess it's time to get on the phone

Thanks again,

Chris
