Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to DVC. We booked our trips through the website. I was curious about where and when we would give our requests. Do I have to wait for online check in or should I call member services and and talk to them? TIA.
 
Call MS and ask them to add your requests to your reservation. The requests available through online check-in are often not very useful for DVC reservations.
 
There are somewhat limited requests you can make during online check in or you can call MS and ask them to add them. They will remind you that they are indeed requests and are not a sure thing. We have been lucky in that we usually get what we ask for but we limit our requests to usually 2 and not too specific. Our last trip I asked for Grandstand or Paddock and close to a pool. We got bot Grandstand and were in the 82-- building which was also wonderful for the bus stop. The more requests you make the less likely you are to get them I think. There was also a place to check if having a room ready at check in was your most important item which could take precedence over all other requests. We could have had a room that was ready in the Carousel section which has no pool or the paddock the last building away from the pool when we checked in but I elected to wait for the one in the GS. Hope you get what you want and have a wonderful trip.

Agreed, or you could email them directly if you include the right info. I would not spend time on the phone for this.

The reason I call is because I've been told by at least one MS CM that the request I made is "not in the list". For example, at AKV I like to request "lowest floor". I've been told that MS's request list includes "high floor" but not "low floor" or "ground floor". I like to make sure that they will type it in and that what they typed hasn't changed the request into something I didn't intend.

It's unfortunate that we're not able to make and view requests (both drop down selections and typed comments) on our reservations online because that would greatly reduce these types of phone calls to MS.

I haven't seen any difference and it's definitely a lot easier to email. I'd suggest that IF you get a response back that doesn't sound helpful, then call. Plus the CM that deal with email tend to be more versed overall.
