Hi Everyone,

I apologize in advance because I know this has been asked before. I've tried searching for the answer but no luck.

I'm currently waiting to close on an AKL contract. When this happens how do I make a reservation? (I know stupid question). Do I need to call in or is this something I can do on-line through the member site. I'll be booking a last minute trip so I am anticipating difficulty in finding a reservation. I would love to be able to just look on-line and take all the time needed playing around with dates.

Thanks so much.

Currently there are two ways to request a reservation. You can call DVC Member Services or via e-mail using a form on the member website. They have promised an on-line reservation system, but have not yet delivered it.

The email is just a request for the reservation and you won't know until later if you get. I prefer to call and see if the resort, view and villa I want are available and then find out what resorts that are available for my type of villa and for my desired dates. The CM's at MS are great in covering all of the bases with the members.

For our first reservation we were both on the line and excited telling the CM it was our first time as a DVC Member and the CM was helpful double checking things and explaining what he was doing and what our options were.

Hope everything goes well and you get the reservation you want.

Also, when you call they will ask for your DVC Member number and the last four digits of your social security number. Good luck!

Thank you all for your replies. I'll go ahead and call in a week or two to find out if I'm in the system and then have the cm check some dates for me.

When you decided to purchase, your guide could assist you with your first reservation if it was less than 11 months out. I bought a couple of weeks ago and the day after I notified my guide that I wanted to buy and placed my deposit, I called him with my vacation dates (01/12) and my wish list. He checked with member services if my first choice was available and then conference me in to complete the reservation process. I received my confirmation via email later that day.

But if you purchase resale, no such help. That's a one time perk for buying direct from Disney.

Not trying to hijack the thread but perhaps the OP would find this useful as well ... mine closed about 2 weeks ago. How and when do they notify you of your membership status? Should I be waiting for snail mail, email or just call them? LOL

Call them, you might wait forever!
