Reservation needed for Droid Depot?

My son wants to make a droid next week while we are there for spring break. Do you need to make a reservation for this or is it easy to do as a walk-up? I’m kinda hesitant to make a reservation as I don’t want to be bound to having to be in a particular section of HS at a certain time, but if it’s necessary in order for him to be able to do it I will. Thanks.

Hollywood Studios is always packed and reservations for Droid depot are typically hard to come by, so going over spring break will make it that much harder.

According to the reservation finder, dates over the next 2 weeks that have availability are March 7, 11, 12, 19 and 20th. Not sure if you were planning any of those days at DHS, but I'd reserve a time.

oh no! It’s not showing any availability for the dates we were going to be at HS. Does that absolutely mean we couldn’t walk up at do it?

Well I just changed our departure day park pass to HS since that was the only day they had Droid Depot reservations. We normally do MK for our last day. I guess since we are doing HS a couple other times earlier in the week we can always see if we can get in via walk in and if so cancel our later reservation and move our park pass back to MK. Ugh.

Yeah, sometimes walk-ups are available, but I'm really not sure what it's like right now whether this is allowed or not. Would love to hear what you find out.

I’ll try to remember to report back. I did snag a reservation for our departure day, which forced me to change our park reservation from MK to HS. We traditionally do MK on our last day. If we manage to be able to do walk in for droid depot on our first HS day earlier in the week I’ll try to switch our park reservation back to MK.
