Hey All,

Long story short we have a reservation with points from our first contract. We just received points from a new resale contract. I’d like to use the points from this new contract, instead of our other contract.

There currently is no additional inventory at the resort we already have a reservation at.

Am I able to quickly cancel the current reservation and rebook using the other points? Or since there is no availability would the points be held for someone that has a waitlist? I understand that the waitlist system is done manually by a cast member but was not sure if the reservation may go into some type of holding once my reservation is cancelled.

Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, you want to keep the same current reservation, but change the contracts from which the points are coming from? If your new resale contract is eligible to book at your current resort (for example, you're not outside 7 months, or might not be able to book at Riviera with your resale points, etc....), you do NOT want to cancel the reservation. Go into your DVC account and click MODIFY instead. You can then select the same resort/room type on the same dates, and it should show you it's available for you. Then it should list your contracts, and you can select where you want the points to come from (choosing your new resale contracts first). You should then be able to proceed and complete the same reservation with the resale points. Your transaction isn't final until the very end, so you can back out anytime you might feel uncomfortable - but it's pretty straightforward. Your other option is to call Member Services and ask for their assistance with the transaction..... But do NOT cancel and hope to rebook. Once you cancel, the room is open for any member to grab, and perhaps a waitlist to grab. Use modify.

This solved my issue, thanks! I originally called member services and they were unable to help with this.

Glad you could do it without jeopardizing your current reservation! I know there can be some anxiety going through the modify process! Have a great trip!
