Resale with no 2022 points

With the restricted borrowing in place, how are people stripping the 2022 points from contracts? I have seen several with no delayed closing and no 2022 points.

That was my assumption, but since a member can receive points only once a year where is this website putting all the points? Do they have that many contracts they manage that they can strip them all. Or do you think they wait to sell a stripped contract and then find an account to strip it too?

People are transferring points to someone else or they have two memberships and transferred them to themselves before listing.

Many of those are being sold by investors who would just sell the 2022 points before reselling.

DVC allows owners who have more than one membership to transfer more than once if it is between accounts they own.

So, I am allowed to transfer as many times as I need between my Aug and Dec UY.

If it is the same owner of the contracts, all it takes is for them to have more than one membership..different UY and they move the points there.

as it appears that stripped contracts don't sell for much of a discount (maybe $5-7) relative to the "worth" of DVC points, I plan to strip my larger contract and transfer to my smaller contract before selling.

They also used to allow borrowing points for Disney Cruise Line trips. I think you could borrow up to 2 years out worth of points.

This was the info I was needing. I thought you could only transfer once. Interesting....

I assume the sellers of the stripped contracts are a little more savvy. I always just skip them when I see them.

I think this is very much true. Think about it, if you can buy cheap points, strip the contract, sell the contract and rent the points, I think there is probably A LOT of money being made

I'm still considering doing this with a contract that I'm selling now that it's in its 2021 UY. By stripping the 2022 points I could sell the contract for a bit less and still come out ahead.

It's a smart move! I just went under agreement with a contract I stripped. The buyer is paying an astronomical amount for it, so I'm not revealing details. I would not have received $1 more PP for those 2021 or 2022 points! The contract wasn't of any use to us for the next two years so why not take a profit and move on?

To clarify, you can not transfer points between contracts. You can transfer between memberships. Once transferred a temporary contract is created to hold those points.

So, if you have two contracts in the same UY, there is no transfer that can happen.

Contracts can never change size. Only a membership can.

huh. I didn’t know that. Multiple transfer huh. Very good info!

but isn’t there some maximum ratio? lets say the UY I want to transfer to only has 100 points. It can’t receive an unlimited number of points even from same owner right?

They allow owners to transfer as many times up to the number of points you have. Now they could change the rule.._and at one point they didn’t allow it.

But, I have a 300 point SSR contract and 175 in RIV. They will allow me to transfer all of those points into my Dec UY if I wanted to in more than one transaction.

So, the limits is really based on how many points you have in that membership.

I have been denied a transfer of banked points so I’d say you were lucky.

Transferred points can't be borrowed, only banked and I've never heard of an owner transfer being given an exception.

However I too have transferred a small number of banked points. It was years and years ago though and I had to speak to a supervisor. It was pre OTU points which I think they would have directed me to if there was such a thing then.
