Resale shopping again.. my heart wants one thing but my head says another. Give your opinions.

If you have the bank account then go with your heart. That being said I could never really do that personally haha. We really like Boardwalk and really liked RIV. Luckily RIV went down to $155/point direct back in 2020 so we bought.

Regarding BLT we have toured it before and hated it. It got a refurb since then so possibly its better now so we likely need to tour it again for a future stay idea but the theming was terrible, access to EPCOT was terrible, but the saving part to it is the walk to MK.
Cant say I couldn't be talked into 155 for RIV today.

That was me with Riviera. I hate it so much and I really hoped to be content with O14.

Honestly, the only thing that could have pulled me into the Direct pool was Fort Wilderness cabins at a favorable points chart.

Welp.

The dues are still way too high for me to ever own Fort Wilderness itself, but access to the cabins was enough to get me to buy OKW Direct.

You have to REALLY be OK with the Skyliner and losing the ability to walk/boat to two parks.

Lots of people are big fans of the Skyliner as long as it doesn't go down which is less of an issue in the non-stormy months. The nice thing is its easier to get in to BCV at 7 months during the summer at this point but we do have BWV points as well.

I still hold out hope that someday they start running the skyliner through more weather as its built for it but they are extra cautious it seems.

Yes, lots of people definitely are…. in fact some people are raving fans of it.

But, IMO an individual should make sure that their family is OK with it before purchasing there because not everyone is.

DH loves that we get to have a "ride" before we even get into the parks (if going to EPCOT or DHS). We love the Skyliner in our house and even have shirts for it, but what really sold Riviera for us was the rooms. Best on property imo.

Yes, $155 direct at Riviera was a great deal and that was a big reason for us as well, but those days are long gone now!

Wow, I've always walked over to Geyser Point. Was a server walking around and talking orders? At VGC, there's usually three or so servers out by the pool whose main job is to take care of those in the lounge chairs.
Yes, a server from GP also serves the BRV pool. Not sure it's all the time, but every time I've been (it's in late August/September) there has been a server going around. And it during the day, not evening. Maybe because it was quiet at GP and they wanted more tips??? Or maybe it is a designated server for the pool, I never asked. They were dressed in the GP costume, so I assumed it was one of their servers. When I go in December, I don't normally spend time at the pool, so I can't say it happens then. It's a nice amenity!

I want the Skyliner ears!!!! I couldn't find them when we were there.

No place has Mexican food like southern Ca. No place.
I’m fairly sure the broad range of states in the south west from Texas all the way to CA do legit good Mexican food with their own regional twists mixed in. I’d stretch that north a layer or two up to CO, Utah and of course Nevada. Yes CA has a jump on those for quality and quantity but the gap has narrowed substantially.

Heck I was just in Saint George Utah a few weeks ago and we took the family to a legitimate taco shop in Utah on he side of a gas station. My mother in law thought I was joking when I said oh wow gas station Mexican food means it’s going to be good. It was solid and I even ordered some more “exotic” tacos I would normally avoid if I was unsure about how good it was (lengua and tripas) and they were tasty.

As for the main topic at hand haven’t had a chance to fully read the whole thread but in my experience if you are okay with pool garden view than it was super easy for me to book multiple 2br lock off every time I look at 7 months. Yea it’s not BW view but imo part of the charm is getting down to the BW/green area and hanging out if I need that nightlife vibe. Plus the pool/garden view was nice.

We got two rooms with great views for us and our friends we invited.

Thank you for sharing that view is so charming, i would love that maybe even better than boardwalk view!

It could happen. It's not that far gone. I got my RIV points just last summer for 158 after magical beginnings. They just bumped the price up a bunch when the Politow opened since Poly is so popular. It may get down there again if sales continue to be slow

A little late to answering your original question. Definitely go with your heart. Not that it’s impossible to book what you want at BWV at 7 months, heck, I even managed to get a BW view studio for 5 or 6 nights for the SW Dark Side race weekend back in 2018 (7 months booking, I am sure I got lucky), and another few nights of BW view again for DVC MM at Epcot to use up holding points after Hurricane Irma messed up my original trip. But not having to stress about it or wish you were at BWV is worth the money!

I often toy with moving to FL but as a southern Californian, it always circles back to food. We have the best food diversity here. Authentic Chinese (San Gabriel valley) and Mexican (east LA).

Love this view. Ive had the mexican food in St George. While good, still not like taco shop on the corners of San Diego neighborhoods. Nevada has some good ones. The rest of Utah and CO.. ehhhh

The rest of Utah and CO.. ehhhh
The red iguana in salt lake is legit. Worth the wait and I’d put it with the running of some of the best sit down Mexican restaurants I’ve eaten at in my lifetime.

For CO I’ll forgive their desire to give most items that green chili sauce as it’s tasty. Not what I grew up with but it’s yummy.
