Resale at Wilderness Lodge

The agent did mention the WLV are one of the highest in dues but that doesn't bother me. I've been to Disney World at least 25 times (my 5 yr old has already been there 6x's and my 3 yr old has already been there 4x's). From all the resorts I've stayed at - which have been pretty much all of the deluxes and a few of the moderates, this is by far my all time favorite.
You have some experienced mini-travelers! :thumbsup2 What great memories you've already established for them, and if you wind up purchasing at VWL (or anywhere else), I'm sure those wonderful times only will be enhanced. I've stayed at HHI, AKV (both Kidani and Jambo House), and BLT, and I've taken tours of a few others--without doubt the one resort which speaks best to me is VWL. It sounds as though you've done your research, and you certainly visit often enough to make the purchase work to your advantage. Though it may be a bit premature, I'll go ahead and say, "welcome home!" ;)

Keep in mind that the initial cost of the contract is a one time expense. Dues are every year! While there is no way of knowing what the future brings, the low MF's at BLT (even though we bought direct the first time) made it seem to be the best for us in terms of location and expense.

You're assuming that BLT dues will remain lower.

However, if you look at every other hotel-connected resort, you'll see that every one which has been open for five years or more has dues higher than SSR or OKW, which are stand-alone condo-style resorts.

Will BLT follow that pattern? I don't know, but I don't think I'd assume perpetually lower dues.

Hi!! I've been looking into buying DVC through resale and was wondering why Wilderness Lodge prices are so low?? Is there any specific reason why? Also, I spoke to someone at The Timeshare Store and they said that Wilderness Lodge always are the hardest to sell. I'm trying to figure out where I want to buy and having such a hard time figuring out where I want my home resort to be. We definitely want to be in the MK area so it would be BLT or WLV but the WLV prices look so much more attractive.

I think that VWL may be "harder to sell" because it is (except for AKV) arguably the most intensely themed resort of the DVC resorts. Many people really dislike the darker decor. Many people don't like the view of woods that most rooms have. Many people just don't like the WL theme, period.

For those, such as myself, that like WL ambience...we tend to REALLY love it.

I guess it's like selling a house with a pool...if the prospective buyers like pools and taking care of them, then you can sell it. But that is probably a minority of the population.

WL has always been on the lower rung of the WDW Deluxe resorts (just look at room rates). Bottom line, the resale pricing of VWL reflects that.
