hi we got back from pour best trip to disney yet!!!

but i wanted to let you know - that the park is requiring picture id's for eveything- checking in- to use a credit card for purchases --- to buy a drink etc etc.

being from jersey - the only state left - i think that does not require picture id's we ran into a lot of hassles- since my husband and i don't have picture ids.

we are planning on getting them for our next trip- thought i'd let any of you jersey people now- to save you the hassle

We just got back too.........the only time they asked us for picture ID was checking in and when picking up packages we had delivered back to the resort.........even so, one of those times I didn't have it and they let me pick it up anyway.........oh, and at the airport of course.

One of the counter service people wanted to see my husband's when he used a traveler's check, she really didn't seem to believe it was him........even asked him to sign another paper to check the signature again...............she was the only one that did that though. If we would have had to go through that very often, we would have been pretty frustrated.

I'm glad you had a great time anyway! We did too!

I'm experiecing the exact same thing. Good thing I used my Driver's License for ID... because of showing my ID so often, I've misplaced/have left my Driver's License somewhere at the park.

Maybe I look like a criminal (I always got double searched at the airports and people ask for my pic ID all the time... something being an Asian with really long pony tail, I guess)

Imagine if what I've misplaced is my passport. How am I supposed to get back to Canada?

People from NJ don't have photo ID on their Drivers License? How do you fly without it?

On a side note...it isn't just Disney, we had to show ID at all hotels and motels we stopped at along the way, and a lot of stores ask for ID when using a credit card during the holidays. Disney, though, does it all year.

The thing is that my CC already have a picture ID on the card and all of them still require me to show another piece of picture ID. Funny that they require that much security when I'm only spending $4 (four) dollars. LOL.

I think I just look like a criminal ;)

when i used to work in retail, we always needed a form of id for a traveler's check -- mostly a government issued id prefered. it was just for the customer's protection.

I ran into this a few places (asking for a photo id w/a creditcard purchase), but it didn't bother me.

I charged several purchases, food, souveniers, yesterday at Epcot. No one asked for ID. However, I went to Walmart for groceries and they asked for my ID and gave it back to me, before I even signed anything. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

I have used pretty exclusively travelers checks for my last 3 WDW trips. I never once was asked for ID. Our last trip was just this past fall. I'm wondering if they've had increased problems w/ stolen credit cards and travelers checks.

i was stopped at the guard house and asked to show my id at po-fq when i
went there to get some breakfast at the food court.
he also wrote down my license plate#. the funny part was
i showed him my parking slip from the contemporary resort, and that didn't seem to make any difference. it was before i put any make up on so i guess
i look worse in the morning than i originally thought??

NJ is now switching to picture ID. As your current license expires you must get a picture one. Since 9/11 I use my passport for domestic as well as international travel.

i haven't flown in over 10 years- i've turned into a big chicken :earseek:
so i didn't worry about getting a picture license.

Yes, WDW is requiring picture ID's! You would be surprised how many people at WDW go around with NO ID'S! I just never have understood that! Now, those from NJ... that is understandable

Please, please, please carry your DL or picture ID with you at all times in WDW!!!!

If you are visiting other resorts and you don't have the pass on the dash they will ask for your license.

I go to different resorts all the time. I don't find it a bother to show my license.

"they asked for my ID and gave it back to me, before I even signed anything. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?"

I work in a place where we constantly ask for ID's. We look to see if the picture matches, and look at the signiture. Some do hand them back at that point, but if there is a discrepancy between the signiture on the card and that on the sales slip, they just ask for the ID again and ask for a 2nd form of ID. You can pretty much eyeball a signiture and remember it for that amount of time. Although the safest thing is to keep the ID until after the sales slip has been signed.

no pic id needed unless for financial transactions right? my dd12 won't need one, right? thx. -dj

I have never carried ID with me when we are in the parks because I rather not take the chance of losing it and I carry very little with me. Now that I've read this thread (phew) I will though. But my reasoning is that I've never ever been asked for ID when using a credit card and it has never crossed my mind that I ever would be asked. Its not done here in Manitoba and I guess we've never come across that in the States either but thanks for the heads up. :)

We just returned and while tey did ask for id upon checking in that was it. I use travelers checks as well.

Also, we didn't have the parking thing for the dashboard, they forgot to give it to us, so we just used resort id without anything else. This was at the parks and other resorts, they barely looked at it kinda surprised me.
