Requesting Room Type

What's the best way to request a room/floor for Poly? We currently have reservations for November. I've already put a request in with Touring Plans, but should I also email/fax in a request ad well? We are renting points.

The best way is to do it through the owner. They can call or email or chat with member services and put the request in. DVC room assigners tend to ignore faxes.

Whoever made the actual booking should call to make the room request. Generally we have had pretty good success with room requests. They do pay attention to them in our experience. Not 100% success of course, but even when not exact, the general vicinity.

IMO, if you have a TP room request in, you don't need to do anything else. Those work as well as a note added by MS. Remember to bypass the request section entirely if you do online check in. Anything you check or type on that page will erase anything previously submitted.

Don't bother faxing or emailing the resort. They will probably just toss your request.

I'm new to touring plans and thinking of subscribing. Is there a bad time to submit? Like too early or too late?

I ALWAYS fax in my request and I have ALWAYS been granted what I ask for. Probably about 10
times now in the last 4 years. I’ve even had the front desk CM read notes from my fax to me at check in when confirming my request. So- not true that they toss them- at least not in all cases.

One thing you shouldn’t do is put in a request through Disney’s online check-in. It will override any other request you’ve made That is likely much more specific.

No you just do your room selection piece and then save it. Touringplans holds it and has a special process to submit it that they set up directly with Disney.

Except some resorts do and won't except faxes. So you are having a risk.

You should share which resorts and what requests.

Correct- some don’t. I think Boardwalk, Beach Club & Saratoga?

Polynesian (upper floor Tokelau, north end on the Oasis pool side similar view to 2911) The Polynesian people read me the info from my fax.

Kidani (lower floor, Sunset Savanna, near lobby)

Riviera (above 5th floor Tower Studio w/view of Skyliner station)

I did read that some don’t accept faxes like Beach Club, Boardwalk, Saratoga and OKW. At those resorts I make my request via member services and again at arrival. But IF they accept a fax then I always do it. I write a letter about our DVC experience and why we love particular locations. So far it’s worked so why not.
