Requesting a refund from the Disney Savings Account

According to the FAQ's, no, it can't be used for any DVC interests.

Well it says Disney Vacation Club Real Estate interests cannot be purchased with the Disney Vacation Account. But wouldn't dues be different? I know you can use gift cards to pay dues.

I just successfully loaded and used $2,000 into the DVA I set up. Problem is I set up the account less than 120 day from my next trip and won't get the 2% bonus. I did it so I could consolidate gift cards and purchase annual passes. Right now I still have a balance of $1 in my account. If I wait the 120 days, then load more money in for my next trip, will I start earning the 2% bonus? Or did I screw things up by spending before the 120 waiting period. Wondering if I need to cancel the account and start over.

Also, to clarify, you don't have to have $1k savings sitting in the account for 120 to get the bonus, you just have to have the account open with money in it for 120 days? So if it sits open for 120 days with only $10 dollars in it, and on day 121 you add $990 and pay for tickets, you'd still get the gift card bonus?

For those who received their bonus gift cards, how does that process work? Did you have to request them or was it automatic?

Another question for DVC members -- since it works like a gift card number, think we'll be able to use this for dues payment?

Really hope Disney's long term plan with this is to connect it to our magic bands. That would finally provide a solution for all the $50 target cards.

Curious: What did you purchase besides AP's using DVC? Did you have to call to purchase AP's? I just tried online and there was no purchase option other than Credit Card.

I am having a great day, thanks.

You'll quickly learn that as long as what they post is within the guidelines of the site, anyone can post in any thread they choose. ;)

That's true, there aren't any rules about being a condescending jerk for no good reason, you've certainly shown us all that! :thumbsup2

Well, it is NOT a 2% bonus. It is a $20 GC for every $1000 spent on a "qualified" Disney Vacation Purchase. You need to actually spend the money to get the bonus and if you don't spend in $1000 increments, you are not going to get a pro-rated GC for the amount between those thousands. If you spend $999, you get nothing. If you spend $3999, you get 3 $20 bonus GCs, not 4.

The terms state that the account must be active for a minimum of 120 days before you are eligible for any kind of bonus at all. However, they do not stipulate that a minimum amount must be in the account for the entire 120 days. So, theoretically, you could open an account today with a total of $10 and wait 119 days to deposit the remaining $990. On day #120, you could make a $1000 "qualified vacation purchase" and you should receive the $20 bonus. It also states that the bonus is only available on purchases made by Dec. 31, 2015 and that there is a maximum of $500 in bonus GCs per account.

The fine print also says that you should request your bonus GC 4-6 weeks prior to your vacation so that it can arrive at your address on time. Looks like it's not an automatic thing.

Since the whole thing is new, there is no way to tell if they will permit us to use the account to pay for DVC dues. It wasn't introduced until after the payment deadline passed for 2014. It would certainly make life easier for a lot of CMs in member accounting if they didn't have to apply multiple $50 Disney GCs to contracts come January. I'm not going to be the guinea pig for that. I'll wait to see if someone else is successful in doing it before I jump on the DVA bandwagon. And FWIW, I doubt that dues would qualify for the $20 bonus GCs.

I purchased both APs and MNSSHP tickets with DVC discount by calling DVC member services. I paid with my DVA number, which they told me is really just a gift card number. If the CM doesn't know how to use DVA, tell them to enter it as a gift card and it will work.

I also used DVA for an online Memory Maker purchase -- there is a spot for your gift card or DVA number at checkout.

I was able to purchase DLR AP's over the phone today using DVA and yes, I needed to tell CM to enter DVA account number as gift card. She was very kind and kept saying "I learned something today!" but it is definitely not widely known yet.

There is currently no GC or DVA payment option online for DLR APs and I confirmed with technical support. The only current option online is a credit card. She said they are hoping to roll out their new website soon, but had no date (I had no idea there was a new website in the works). Heading to DLR on Monday and hope to use to pay off Hotel balances with food charges. Will report back!

Just paid off my November trip with my Disney Vacation Account. I have had it open since March. As soon as the transfer of funds from Vacation Account to Disney Reservation went through, I requested my bonus gift card.

I don't know how long it will take to get the card. The website says to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. That's cool. I have time. I think it will be shorter than that, though.
