Requested 1st floor BWV, assigned HA room

I booked a a 1 BR BWV Standard View at the 11 month mark, arriving next week, and requested 1st floor- logged in yesterday to the DVC website and was surprised to see they had changed the 1BR STD to a "1BRV-Std WChrAcc RollIn OptHr K QS". I did call to see if I could get a non-handicap room as we don't really like the roll-in shower and other modifications, but they told me nothing else was avaialble. I wonder if the 1st floor request (through Touring Plans) affected the assignment. I was also surprised they had already assigned the room. Not going to worry about it at this point, but wondered if any others have had this happen?

Rooms start to be assigned up to 10 days prior. When you call you are talking to a call center, not usually the resort.

That has happened to me without me making any requests, so, I do not think that requesting first floor had anything to do with it.

Yes -MS was nice enough to call the resort and see if anything else was available. They told me only a HA was available, but I was fortunate to get a great view of the pool which was rare for a standard view so I thanked her and was certainly not going to complain.

Our HA 1 bedroom that we got was also a pool view, so we were happy as well.

The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I did not put in any requests.
I had booked a standard view studio, and I received a HA pool view studio.

FWIW, we got a HA studio at VGF. When you posted this, there was no HA notation on my reservation. Well, now there is!

I had a single night at VGF last spring and got a HA LV studio. Also no change on mine several days earlier that I recalled. After I walked in the room I looked on the website and there it was.

We just arrived. Got 1068.

That's the room# I meant to type.
We had the attached HA studio, #1070 a few weeks ago. We absolutely loved the location.

So today at GFV, we got a ME return notice, for a family, not ours. I'm thinking this was the family assigned originally to this HA studio. DH goes to front desk and asks what would have happened if we had declined this HA studio as apparently this family had. He was told something would have been offered, like a spa day pass. My DH took the spa day pass! He likes some of the spa amenities! We accepted the room, it fits our desire for a studio SV, but I did originally feel sad, because I actually prefer a shower apart from a tub, which is what Non HA studios here have, and for whatever reason this HA studio has a well equipped with bars and handles tub with shower.
