Reporter and Camerman killed on air.

Another day, another bunch of people dead at the hand of a gunman. And, there will be more tomorrow, and next week, and next month and next year. Sigh. I can't even get that indignant about it anymore. It's just so, well, expected. And, anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been paying attention.
I gave up hope when nothing was done after a crazed gunman mowed down a bunch of five year olds. That is the bottom for me. If nothing is done in response to that then I can't imagine anything changing minds.

I can understand the outrage felt towards the pro-gun lobby of the United States at the moment, but perhaps we can put that aside for a while and just grieve?

Yeah but we do that just about weekly these days....meanwhile the killings keep happening.

Apparently the shooter was motivated by the Charleston shootings. " Why did I do it? I put down a deposit on a gun on 6/19/15. The church shooting in Charelston shooing was on 6/17..."

I'm beyond disgusted by this (or any act of senseless violence) I'm just sick for the family and friends of the poor victims.....

Anderson Cooper 360 is having a panel this evening to discuss the shooting. I am a fan of the author Dave Cullen, who will be appearing on the panel, and he plans to eviscerate the media for their role in the shooting and their denial of such role. I am going to watch as it should be very interesting.

Can you give a synopsis, if possible, for those of us who can't watch it? Thx

I watched some of the you tube videos of the shooter when he was at work in front of the news camera. I thought he was very good at what he did. He claims the church shooting is what finally set him off but, obviously, something long before that had affected his mental state. :guilty:

TC :cool1:

This guy's been angry for years. The Charleston tragedy was just an excuse. IMO

It ended up being a short interview rather than a panel, but with several salient points. The media refuses to accept that many news outlets are partly responsible for creating the atmosphere of violence and the evolution of mass murder into "spectacle murder." Mass murders are happening so frequently now that shooters are forced to become more creative (higher body count or finding a large audience, for example) in order to get the same week-long coverage that the media gave the Columbine and Virginia Tech shooters.

They also referred to the shooter as an "injustice collector" - like the post above mine says, the guy has been angry for years and has deluded himself into believing that he was never anything but a victim.

I've said this on other threads, it's the whole lack of respect for life. Now, did he have a mental illness? Maybe. His work history and behavior suggest maybe, but I'm arm chair quarterbacking here. No idea if he really has a problem or he's just an angry racist. IS he a racist? Were all of his complaints racially motivated? I don't know. Too many questions right now to form any solid opinion other than it's sad, tragic and just plain awful.
