This is a question for those of you who have been on several cruises. We are on the 2/1/03 sailing of the Magic, very much looking forward to it. We sailed last February and had John Cunningham from Scotland as our server. He was, using his favorite word...Excellent! My kids fell in love with him and have kept in touch this past year via e-mail. We would love to share the week with him again, I know he just returned to the ship on the 1/4 cruise. Anyone ever been able to arrange getting the same server again and how did you go about it? For any of you out there on the Magic right now, have you seen John? Is he still working the dining rooms or been posted to another postion?

Thanks for you help!

We've always found Disney to be fairly accomodating when it comes to requests such as these. We have a favorite serving team at Victoria & Albert's (although I'm sure they're all fabulous) in WDW, and by simply asking when making our reservation, things usually turn out as we request. If you already booked your cruise, you could try calling DCL or your TA and see if they can add the request to your reservation. I also believe you can go somewhere right after boarding to try and change seating times, rotation, etc. Is it Sessions? Perhaps you could make this dining related request there as well. I'm sure the info will be in the Navigator on the first day. Anyone else? Anyone who's actually been on a cruise and isn't just making educated guesses? ;)

Early in the afternoon of embarkation day, there is an opportunity to make dining room changes. At this time, go there and request your server.
Disney is very accomodating at this time for requests.

We placed our request for our server when we made our reservation a year in advance, and about one month before we left, I sent an email to DCL requesting the same server. Then, when we boarded, I went to where you can check dining rotation to see if we received our request, and we had!

Good luck!

What a great idea!
Do you still have DCL's e-mail address that you used for the request?

Thanks in advance!

We will follow all of the great advice here. We did e-mail DCL about this question, but that was 6 to 8 months ago. They told us that for several reasons that they can not assure us of the same server. They may not be on the ship at that time, they may receive a different work assignment, etc.. They did advise us to check in right after imbarkation though. I will e-mail them again, now that we are only a few weeks away from the cruise.

DCL can be contacted directly from the official cruise line site. I e-mailed them with two questions this week. Have not had a response yet though.

Thanks again!
