Hi,
I need help , will someone please tell me how exactly should this be done. I have someone willing to rent me points , but they want the deposit before they make the reservation. Is this how it is usually done? From what i have read on several posts, the deposit is given after the reservation is made, am i wrong?
please help.
thanks so much,

That owner may have been burned in the past. As soon as the reservation is made the points change and may end up in a holding account. If the person renting never pays the deposit the owner is out of luck and may lose points.

For your protection only give a deposit if you have the assurance that the reservation is avil and pay by credit card that way your protected if the owner doesn't make the reservation, also the owner can call or email with the Conf Number the day that the deposit is paid! - Also ask for an agreement in writing if that helps

Also if your not sure or uncomfortable DON'T deal with that owner - were all here because we love Disney - Not to make each other uncomfortable!

I do ask for a deposit at the time of making a reservation - because may people are asking but are not very serious and do not understand that the owner could stand to lose if they never get paid! No one needs that head ach, I have been burned in the past by people saying one thing and never following through.

IMHO

Thanks so much....that helps me understand more of where he is coming from

Generally when I've rented points I've made the reservation only after a firm commitment but not asked for a deposit until they had the confirmation in hand. Now there are times when I couldn't do that and they include if I'd have to borrow the points and short notice. So anything that's more risky to my points I may go the way you are getting and ask for a deposit or even full price up front.

Here's an example. I also own a couple of Marriott's and usually rent them out about every other year. Back last spring I had someone wanting to rent one of my weeks for 2007 but they wanted a poorer week than I'd normally reserve to rent out or to use (I usually get 4th of July or the week after to rent and when I stay). I told them that if I was going to wait and miss the opportunity for the better weeks, I needed a 25% deposit at that time prior to the reservation time and prior to when I could have reserved the better week. They sent the deposit and I got the week/resort they wanted.

Their needs may be based upon your request. You are requesting several rooms, Boardwalk view (if I remember correctly), etc that will require more work from them. Maybe they want to see if you are really sincere about it?
