Renting points for Fall 2020 likelihood

Hello! After many years away from my beloved house of mouse I have convinced DH that we need to go back. His #1 request was that we try to avoid the crowds "as much as we can"(insert my laughing at this. I know, I know. Pipe dream). The last few times we went were in conjunction with RunDisney events so it was very crowded. We have landed on a fall 2020 ETA and are looking to rent a studio at BCV either mid/end of Sept or the beginning of Oct. I know how hard those reservations are at the 11 month window. What do you think the likelihood would be in attaining one? Should we look at BWV also? I need to get my ducks in a row since the window is about to open and we need to be ready to jump! Thanks!

You will have a bette chance of getting one at BWV as there are more. To get either one, you will need to secure a BCV or BWV owner who can book exactly at 11 months. It may be easier to go through a rental company as they will have a pool of owners vs. just finding one.

Good luck!

I would go with a rental company and have a backup resort in mind in case neither of those work out.

Thank you for the responses! We plan to go with a rental company. It's just an easier transaction.

We successfully rented 6 nights in a garden/pool BWV studio through David’s for this coming October. We love Beach Club but didn’t want to chance not getting either one so we went for what should be easier.

Make sure you submit your form to your rental company as soon as they let you (Davids is 12 months before you check in if I remember correctly) so you’re at/near the top of the list once your 11 month window opens. If you go with BWV, budget for pool/garden, you aren’t going to get standard.

"Top of the list" is really a myth with agencies. An agency sends out a list to people of "we have someone looking for X resort for these dates, someone for these dates" etc. As owners, we cherry-pick what works best for our points and UY and etc. The agency doesn't send requests out in a priority order or mandate owners take them first in, first out. (Nor can they.)

Interesting, the BWV reservation I spoke of went through quickly but we were told it directly from the agency as well as our place in the queue both when waiting at our initial first choice and our final choice for a different trip. We did know we would be “skipped” in favour of a group whose point amount lined up better.

Either way, I think sending in a request ASAP is still a good idea. Can’t hurt.

If an owner wants to rent out as many points as possible, they might ignore the two or three night requests for a studio and go with a one week in a two bedroom. They can pick and choose as they like.

Yes that lines up with what I was told in regards to groups points matching better jumping the line.

Truly, the "line" is something they tell renters. A line, as it were.

They don't send out one request for a studio for a Tuesday-Saturday stay and then not send out the three for Wednesday and the 6 for Thursday - all of which would require the same points - waiting on that first to be fulfilled.

One of the major brokers simply publishes ALL of their requests on their owner pickup page, without any real priority save listing by check in date.

Yikes well I’m glad it all worked out for us despite being told that if we switch to a certain resort we’d be at the top of the queue compared to our place at our original one!

Either way, I still think with renting points it’s best to get the ball rolling as early as possible :)
