Renting points before buying - question

We have been investigating purchasing a DVC - but thought we would "try" it out first. Can someone tell me the best way to "rent" some points so we can try before we buy? Thanks

Welcome to the Dis-Boards.

Go to the Rent/Trade Board and read over Doc's FAQ's. I would also suggest renting from an experienced person who has quite a few posts. Do a search and read their past posts to get a feel for him/her. Make sure you are comfortable with the person you are renting from and make sure he/she understands DVC.

Go over to the rent/trade board. We rented points from someone for last fall @ BCV & loved it. While there, we took the SSR tour. We like the looks of Saratoga & the 50 year contract, but don't know if we would always stay there, we like other places as well. We are currently looking into buying points @ SSR & spoke with our guide the other day. Even if you are not able to rent points & stay @ a DVC resort, if down @ WDW, just go over to a few resorts & look around, ask if they have any unoccupied rooms to see. If you take the DVC SSR tour, it's @ Boardwalk, it's very painless (unlike other timeshares), we were there 45 minutes (1 hour tops). At the time, we were not in the position to purchase, but were sent home with lots of info to look over. We were also given 4 meal vouchers that we used for Beaches N'Cream - very painless & a free meal.

If you are not comfortable with the risk you take renting points, you can reserve any of the DVC locations at WDW from CRO.

Since SSR is now open, the tour is there. I believe the models at Boardwalk are closed.

"CRO" = Central Reservations Office It's WDW resort reservation department.

It is the "Central Reservations Office" where you call to make cash reservations.
