Hi, If you wanted to rent points to stay at the new Riviera Resort, do you have to rent from someone who actually owns there? The only reason I ask, is I saw a review of it on youtube, and I thought the person was talking about selling it and some restrictions, was wondering if that pertained to renting as well? I know I've rented many points in the past, and there was never a restriction, expect waiting for the 7 months mark if they didn't own at the resort I wanted to stay in- maybe I misunderstood?
Thank you!

Generally, yes. Riviera is hard to get at 7 months right now, and may always be, so home resort points are extremely helpful for getting the booking.

But the restrictions on buying and resale are completely separate from that.

Someone booking at 7 months for Riviera will need qualified points, but most points are qualified and that shouldn't be a big barrier now or for a long time. The larger barrier will be unit availability.

As mentioned, the owner has to have qualified points. That means they have to have bought prior to January, 2019 Resale, or bought direct points.

Finding someone right now with those points, as already, mentioned,
probably wont be that hard, but the 7 month window could be, especially if you are considering studios with a SV.

If you want to rent points for Riviera, you might not be able to find many owners there willing to rent out their points before they even get a chance to stay there. It might just be easier to book a stay on cash for now until it gets sold out or near sold out in a year or two.

Ok thanks everyone! The 1 bedroom's look beautiful, curious to see what people say after staying there-especially how the skyliner works out.
