Renting points and have a few questions

Once an agreement has been reached and the reservation is in place and a confirmation number given is there any way an outsider (not a member) can call member services just to confirm the reservation is in the system (not make changes etc)?
Thanks!!!!!!

I signed a contract in June for renting points and in the contract it says "Renter can confirm the reservation has been properly made with DVC Member Services at 800# using the confirmation number provided."

I realize every contract may in fact be different. But upon receipt of the contract I did in fact call to confirm the reservation and will do so again before I leave. Kathy

Member Services is not supposed to talk to non-members for any reason. This was a fluke.

When is the reservation turned over to the resort? Is it similar in time frame to a regualr Disney hotel reservation? At that point the resort could be contacted if the need were to arise correct?

The reservation is turned over to the resort about four days before the start of the reservation. Technically, you should be able to contact the resort. However, some non-members were transferred over to DVC when they called the resort (actually a call center) and then MS would not talk to them. Why would there be a need to call the resort? The non-member should have a copy of the reservation confirmation from the DVC member they rented from.

The non-member cannot make any requests or changes to the reservation.

I was just talking in general for people (not us) who might want to have Birthday stuff in the room before arrival etc. Who would need to talk to the resort about such things. At least those are reasons I have heard for people calling any resort ahead of their arrival.
