Renting points and free internet access?

I am renting points and was wondering if you have to be an actual member to get the free internet access? Also, if we are able to take advantage of the free internet access then what are the guidelines for getting it? Are there any deposits or is it just outright free?

We stayed at the BCV June8-13 on rented points and got the wired high speed internet free.

Everyone staying at a DVC resort on points gets wired internet access for free.
