Renting car for one day through WDW

Hopefully this is the place to ask this..

If my DH and I wanted to go off 'campus' for one day to U.S., is it possible to rent a car through our Resort? Will they be charging an arm and a leg to rent a car for a day, compared to going through hotwire/priceline??

Alamo has a bus that goes to all resorts (you have to call the night before) and takes you to the Disney Car Care Center for your rental. Alamo is the "official" Disney car rental. National is at the Dolphin, Budget is at one of the DTD hotels (Hilton I think). For National and Budget you have to get there on your own though, and they may have more limited hours.

Like any car rental, the closer you get to the rental date usually the more expensive it is. Walk up last minute rates can be high everywhere. If you KNOW what day you will be off site, you can make a reservation now to get a locked in rate that's usually better, Sometimes it's not, so always check for last minute specials even if you're already reserved.
