Please forgive me (and redirect) if this is on a sticky somewhere. I may be needing a manual wheelchair for an upcoming WDW visit. I would like to rent from off site so we could have it for transportation w/in the resort, onto the bus, etc. as well.

I am currently (still) in a cast from surgery for ruptured Achilles. I get out of the cast and onto crutches easing into weight breaing and then walking on March 25th. I have been told to expect to be on crutches (1 or 2) for 1-2 months. Our WDW trip is May 1-6; it will not be commando. :)

I know Walker Mobility rents--is there anyone else whom I should consider?

How close to the trip can I reserve one? I would like to give it as much time as possible to see just how mobile I am. Do they drop off at the resort or do I have to meet someone when they deliver?

Thanks in advance,

Jenny

If you look in the FAQ at the top of the page, one of the posts lists the places that people on this board have had generally positive experiences with. It's the second post of the first page in the general FAQ.

Disney recently changed so that now only specific vendors can pick up/drop off with bell services/concierge. Those vendors are listed as "preferred vendors". There is a list of all of the preferred vendors and any knowledge/feedback given about each one in the post discussing offsite rentals. Walker is not a preferred vendor so if you rent from them, you'd have to arrange to meet a Walker employee to get the wheelchair and return it. They can still come to resorts, just can't leave their rental items at bell services/concierge.

We use Randys Mobility. They are not one of the preferred providers so we arrange for them to drop off and pick up at the resort (Beach Club).

I use them twice a year and have never had a problem. I like that they dont charge an insurance fee if the chair gets stolen etc.

THANK YOU both for the very helpful replies. I really appreciate your taking the time to write. I am hopeful that IF I need a chair it will only be in the evening if my ankle is fatigued/sore (we usually take a midday break). My GF is fine with pushing and I really don't want the hassle of parking an ECV on the bus or the cost of renting if I don't need it all of the time.
