Rental Question

Trying to book a DL trip next year. Since my mother is elderly and in declining health, the potential is there for cancellation even though she no longer travels with us, in case of emergency. Really hate the thought of our points ending up in reservation status in this scenario.

Thought I'd book a res. for DS/DIL. Only problem is they're not sure if they can get the time off work.

Question: If i book the ressie in my name; can I later assign/change the guests names to either my kids or who-ever I can find to rent; last minute? Haven't rented before; not sure of new MS policies/enforcement.

Unfortunately, the majority of the points wouldn't be bankable either.

Know I could just as easily transfer the points to another member; but my kids are asking that I keep their option open.

I haven't seen any indication from MS that you would not be able to change the names on your reservation if needed so I think you will be OK. It wouldn't hurt to simply ask MS that question (I'd even give them the reason you stated here for your concern) and see what they say.

Called MS this am; answer I was given:

"...it's your reservation, your points; you can do whatever you want with them...".

She said it made no difference if I put our name or my son's on the ressie; I could change the guests names at anytime

That's true for the DC but for DCL, CC, etc where there is a fee, the fee must be paid again to make any changes.
