Rental cars in terminal vs out

My DD, age 5, and I will be traveling alone for the first time. I am renting a car (I know the bus may be easier, but I want a car) and currently have a reservation with Dollar, but I just noticed you have to take a shuttle to get to the car. I am wondering which is easier when you are by yourself with a child and all of the luggage (including a stroller and booster seat)...rental car that you walk to or take the shuttle to? I know I can use a cart to get the luggage out to the car, but what about when I get back to the airport? I don't know that I can do curbside check since I can't park and get out to stand in line to do curbside check and leave the car unattended.

Any advice will be helpful.

Are you talking about the Orlando Airport? Dollar is in terminal in Orlando.

Yes, MCO, but I just saw something that said it was a short shuttle ride. Maybe that site was wrong.

In any event, do you think it is easier to do on or off site? On site sounds easier, but when I think of getting the luggage to and from the car, I am not sure how I will manage.

Dollar has no shuttle needed. They are located in the terminal and then you just walk across the street to pick-up the car.

Recently (6months? a year?) MCO made some changes and some of the major car rental agencies, including Hertz, no long require a shuttle.

Are you staying at a Disney resort? Which airline are you using? If you are flying a participating airline, you can check the luggage at the resort for your return. We did that last time and it made it so much easier getting from the rental garage into the airport.

I had no idea I might be able to check it at the resort. I will certainly look into that. Great idea!
