Ok I would like to ask for some suggestions. My family and I are going to DW in September. Up until a couple days ago we were going to be picked up at the airport and dropped off in a Limo. While we all have been in one before, the youngest of us hasn't been yet. Then my wonderful Fiancee' suggested renting a car giving us the ability to go and see other things around Florida. Like the Kennedy Space Center, Islands of Adventure and maybe Sea World.

So here is my question. What would you do if faced with this decision? Would you keep the Limo plans and have no stress of getting the car, moving your own luggage (but paying for tips), then dropping off car when time to leave OR would you get the rental, which would give you access to other sites in Florida (and pay for gas, toll fees, etc) OR would you keep the Limo and possibly rent a car from park if you decide to leave property?

See my problem? All options look like they would work. Keep in mind that renting the car for 11 days is the same price as being picked up and dropped off in the Limo.

Please help, I am getting a headache.

When we rent a limo it is 100.00 for both ways. How much are you paying if the car rental is the same price? If you want to see all the other attractions you really need a car.

well, we decided to rent the car. We are going to try and go to the Kennedy Space Center. If we don't go we will save a little money on tips for moving our luggage from resort to resort. Also if we don't go we may just go and look around Orlando.

Thanks

if renting the car is the same price as round trip limo, it's a no brainer for me---rent the car. it gives you so much more flexibility. will save you the cost of a one day rental if you drive to kennedy for the day. also, it can save you $$ on breakfast. go to publix and buy some items you can eat in your room--will save you time in the mornings, too.

another note--my kids are picky eaters who like to eat a lot of food. we ate at a wdw buffet for either lunch or dinner most days of our 11 day vacation last year. 5 people, after taxes and tips, often paid $90 for the meal. went to a place "off world" on our last night and the bill was about $35 for the same quality of a buffet (at least to my kids standards)! big savings! (no characters--wouldn't do it for every meal, but occasionally a good way to save $$)

also, it really is easier to get from certain places to certain other places with a car rather than disney transport. maybe not the trips that only take one bus ride, or one monorail ride, but there are some combos that require transfers--really eats time!

I'd say go for the rental car. We are going next month for 10 days and plan to rent a car. The only non Disney thing we are doing is KSC. One of the main reasons I want the car is that we plan to do a lot of dinners at resorts other than the one we are staying in so it will make transportation much more convenient. Whatever you decide, though, have a wonderful trip!

we decided the rental car was the best way to go. the cost is approximatly the same and the opportunity to see other things is greater.

We are renting a car and staying on property. The main reason is my last two trips I had limo only and relied on disney busses. I was never so tired of waiting at bus stops in my life. FOr major parks its ok but go to water parks and Downtown and I think its a pain to wait. This time I will do a combo of car and buses.

Barbday62,

Your post reminded me of the hassle we had getting back to PO-R last year. We waited for 45 minutes for a bus to show up. Not that they filled up and we couldn't get on, THEY DIDN'T EVEN COME! Every other resort had 3 buses come before ours came.

This year we were debating between renting a car or taking a limo. Your post has swung me one way on that. Thanks for the reminder.

Furthermore, our limo last year was late picking us up at MCO and on the return, didn't have a car seat for our son. She said it was too late for her to run and get one, even though she was in the pickup area smoking a cigarette 1/2 hour before we left.

The other plus on having a car would be departure to the airport. We are on an evening flight. Same as last year. The limo came so early that we had to leave the parks early. If we have a car, we would not only gain the early pick up time back to MCO, but also the tranfer back to the hotel (waiting for the bus as well as the bus ride). We could put the luggage in the trunk and tour all day. Leave when we want and go right to the airport. 6:30 p.m. flight, leave parks at 4:00 p.m.

I vote Rental Car.
