What is the consensus on how to go about getting the best deal for a minivan? Book online vs. telephone? AAA? It seems that this could become a career... researching all the rates, the companies, online vs. 1-800, travel agents, etc. Any helpful hints???

We plan to rent a rental van and drive it between Charlotte NC and PC. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

There is no hard and fast way to do this. You have to work to find the best rates. Sometimes the internet has the best specials, sometimes it AAA, other times Entertainment coupons are the way to go.

If you don't want to do the work then a travel agent could do it for you.

It sometimes takes some work but it is worth it in the end when you get a better discounted rate.

I agree that looking for rental cars is Super Hard!!! I have never used a rental car for Disney vacations, but will use one in December.

I found I spent more time searching for the best deal on my cars than I've spent on anything!!

Since I was only doing two 24-hour rentals from Alamo or National, my search was limited to those agencies, but checking each car size, and each code, and both agencies, was an extremely time consuming process!!!!!
