My wife and I are headed to Marco Island for a wedding in June, and I've managed to talk her into a 3 day stop in WDW. Just 1 problem: I can't find a good rental car deal ANYWHERE. Ideally, I'd like to pick up the rental on a Friday, and return it to MCO when we depart. I've always heard of the "$9.99 Deals" but every search I've done is showing rates from $30/day up to $60, $70 a day! Do any of you have any suggestions? I'm not a AAA member. Just a Disney nerd with a great excuse to go to WDW, but no way of getting there.

Just keep trying you are really too far out to score a great deal at this point. About 45 days out my rates started at $130 for 4 days went down as low as $80 (a little over 3 weeks out) then I got it for $43 thru carrentalsavers.com. But you have to do your homework and check persistently. The $43 deal came up one day only and all the other sites were still higher. Most of the rental place and orbitz/priceline/etc don't require you to pay upfront so when you find a lower price book it. Then keep checking. Find a lower one book it and cancel the first one and so on. I've cancelled 8 reservations before I got the $43 deal. It took me about 3 minutes a day to check and I did it for probably 3 weeks that is well worth my time to be saving $90 over the original price.

It is normal to look at rental cars and see STICKER SHOCK this far out. As you get closer to you travel date the prices will drop A LOT! You are better off looking at rates around 3 weeks before you leave. That is when you will find the good rates.
Visit this thread and look for a thread about June rental car rates. Someone usually starts a thread for a particular month and a lot of people will post deals and discount codes.
I have a trip planned in Feb and I looked and my rental if I booked it today would be several hundred dollars!!
One thing you might want to do is sign up for the Alamo Insider program. Its free to join and they offer better discount codes to Insider members.

Thank you so much. After reading your replies, and talking with a travel agent friend, it's obvious that I'm just looking too far in advance. But, I'm a planner, and I really like to have things squared away ahead of time. I'll keep my on the sites, as well as the boards as our trip gets closer! You guys rock!

:thumbsup2
