Rental Car Discounts??

We will be traveling north next week. (from sunny Fl to snowy NY!!!) Crazy I know!!! My question is, are there any codes that are "universal" that I can try? I have found some decent rates, but would like to do better if there's a way, KWIM? Thanks in advance!!

I was just coming here to ask the same question. We usually never rent cars on our trips, but we are going to DL next month and will need a car for at least 1 day of the trip. We are thinking it may be better to just rent it for the whole trip. So, where do you start to find good rates? I have AAA, do they offer discounts? Any other "codes" that all these sites ask for?

AAA offers Hertz discounts that are usually very good.

Thanks Safetymom! Can you just get that by going on their site? Ironically I just got an email from AAA. I went to check out the car rental section and it is temporarily unavailable.

You can reserve from the AAA website. There is a place to enter your AAA club code that will get you the discount. They also have specials for AAA members, be sure to check those out on the Hertz site.

Geez, it must be me. Hertz wont let me get prices (page cannot be displayed) and AAA is unavailable. I guess this will have to wait til tomorrow.

A couple of other sites offer some "universal" discounts, although they are often not great discounts (sometimes just a 10% discount). One is www.rentalcodes.com and another is www.bnm.com/joe.htm
