Does anyone know if a rental car coupon is valid if it expires during the rental? For example if I rent for the period of June 23 through July 9th and the coupon expires on July 1st can I still use it at checkout?

Anyone have any experience with this?

It happened to us one time. As long as it is in effect when you sign the rental agreement, you should be fine.

Is this an Entertainment coupon? The 2009 coupons all seem to expire on June 30th. If it is the 2010 coupons are published and good through June 30th 2011.

Depends on the rental company. There are two different policies depending on company. The first policy is by pickup date the second is by completion date. For example, Alamo use pickup date - so if the coupon expires on July 1st and you pickup on or before that day the coupon is valid. Enterprise use completion date - so you have to return the vehicle on or before July 1st for the coupon to be valid. The most common policy is by pickup date. Just check the wording on the coupon.

Yes, they are Entertainment Book coupons and they all expire on June 30, 2010. AAA has stopped selling the book in Central New Jersey and several coupons that I usually use are no longer in the 2010 book. I am not sure if I need to buy the new book.

I dug out my magnifying glass and read the back of the coupons and they are pretty vague. The way most of the rental car companies are operating today I just want to be on the safe side with my 2010 rental.

Entertainment has far more coupons available onine as opposed to in the book. Alamo only has about 4 or 5 coupons in the 2010 book, but there are lots of codes online. Probably the same for other companies too. You can check out the online coupons without owning a book at entertainment.com.
