Just wanted someone to clarify what No For Sale posts mean. I mean essentially renting points is selling that years points, so I was wondering what qualified as a For Sale post. Just curious was all.

I believe (and someone please correct me if I am wrong;)) that it means that you cannot list your entire DVC contract for sale.

Rent/trade, not forsale board.

Thank you, but that really doesn't tell me anything. The exchange of money for goods or services is the definition selling. When you rent points, you are essentially selling the limited time use of a small amount of points.

The earlier poster stating that you couldn't sell contracts makes a lot of sense as to the meaning of no For Sale posts

Renting and Selling are very two different things. Renting means you are granting use of your timeshare for compensation, you are not selling your ownership interest. Just as if you have rented an apartment, the owner did not sell you the apartment, only granted you use of it for a specified time.

The policy regarding "For Sale" posts is stated in the Rent/Trade policy simply to reinforce the same policy in the DIS Guidelines.

It's intent was to minimize potential confusion that anyone could try to sell a DVC contract via the Rent/Trade board - even though the title of the board does not suggest anything except rental or trades of reservations.

I guess I've never really considered renting Time share points the same as renting an apartment... I've always considered it selling that years points. Semantics really... not a big deal, I really was just curious... not like I thought it meant we couldn't post notices for selling or renting those years points. I just couldn't think exactly what one would put For Sale, besides a current years points or an already existing reservation in its last month. Sorry, It was purely just plain curiousity was all...

So what Kristenrice said... cool. As I said above, I just was asking out of mild curiosity because I couldn't think what else would be listed on that board besides what's already on it, thus wasn't sure WHY the No For Sales post was on there. Never thought someone might try to sell their entire DVC membership or something like that, so that makes sense.

Thanks! Much appreciation in indulging my curiosity.
